Much appreciated!

No problems with machine made. Good and cheap is always good for that daily..

Probably preaching to the choir here, but this is a fantastic Boveda vid

Edit 84% boveda and shot glass of distilled water added to dry box 13.40 - just for my records.

Coolidor - a battle I'm losing?

Coolidor position 1 - passive heat from 2 log burners increased RH by 5 over the course of an evening, but maintained temp well. RH swings back down as temps decrease overnight.

Coolidor position 2 - moved to a room with less passive heat. kept temps fine. RH spiked a little with heating on. However, overnight temps have dropped 10f inside and not climbing since. Currently 58f.

Problem now is the ambient temp of room 2 dips to 56-58f overnight. It's an old house (200+) with minimal insulation. Coolidor doesn't seem to be able to bring temp back up.

It's empty besides the glass tupperware. Glass a mistake?

I was considering buy a cheap box of sticks as test dummies to see how everything reacts. The Quinteros 25 for €77..

Could forget the coolidor idea altogether (or buy a proper one) and go back to my original idea of sticks in tupperware which would be kept in my whiskey cabinet. Would still see temp swings, but being airtight the RH should remain at 65 (boveda in each).

Need to buy some sticks! been at this for two weeks now

Your flavor profile seems like my, so... For my money one of the best, cheapest cigars (even by the box) are the Quinteros Brevas. Wonderful short smoke, very reasonably priced and a pretty healthy zing to it. The nice thing is you get a pretty big selection at very little price. They're machine made short filler, but as I recall they are do use very good quality tobacco.

Several have mentioned PC's. Not unlike what it appears you like to smoke I'm really partial to Por Larranaga PC's. But Bolivar, Trinidad and Sancho Panza's all are ok in my book.

If you are willing to spend a bit more money - the Ramon Allones Specially Selected or Small Club Coronas, Vegas Robaina Famosos, Cuaba Distinguidos.

I hope that helps!
Brevas fresh or aged?

:)

Little update

Order was placed late sunday. Bought most of what john posted, half box of partagas D #4 and a box of the Brevas.

Shop had to order in from elsewhere as they didn't have everything I ordered(🙄), so expected delivery is early next week.

List of Cubans is building...

Brevas fresh or aged?

:)
There something to be said for aged Brevas. I still recall the smell and taste of one I smoked on my way to the Land of Lincoln herf many years ago. I had the sun roof open, the weather was amazing and the cigar put me into a state of Nirvana. So many lasting memories from such a cheap cigar! That, in my book, is what each of us look for in a cigar!

OMG - Partagas Series D #4! One of my top five favorites! You can't go wrong there!

I did originally have just have a single, but they get so much praise I risked a 10 box.

What's peoples thoughts on Plascencia? Esp the reserva 1898. Box of 20 for 130 peaked my interest. The tasting notes even had a personal note added saying how good they are for the price. Only stick on the website to have that.
