Help a newb spend his money

Thanks John I had a look at this. Something to consider for the future for sure.

I ordered myself a torch lighter.

Once I've calibrated the govee (arriving Wednesday) and checked the tupperdores are in line (played with the wine cooler too) it'll be time to order some smokes (finally).

I'll have to go through that list again. Bastard website deleted my shopping basket.

Done.

Bought a cheap desktop humidor for a dry box as well. Comes with some cutters, ashtray and 3 stick carry case. Won't be the best quality obv, but it's good enough for now.
Exactly what I did for my dry box and it works fine!!
Yeah it runs pretty stable temp wise. Bumped it up to 18c and stays there even with just the one bottle in.
He was asking if it needs to be plugged in to keep temp stable. Example: If you live in a place where the temps are extreme to where you don't keep your home at an optimum temp for cigars year round. If you your wine fridge can keep temp without being plugged in, you will be able to maintain a more stable humidity inside of it.

Ah got ya.

I'll buy another temp gauge and find out. It can always be moved.

Thanks for clarifying, that's exactly what I meant. My cigars are in an unfinished basement, so I don't have to worry about temp. The cooling unit in wine coolers kicking on and off can wreak havoc on the humidity.

I've actually thrown in an outdoor sensor I had lying around just to see what it's like when on.

Nice thing is, you can look at the history on the govee, so you'll be able to see how much the RH swings asking the temp swings. (my humidity is going up because it's empty and I'm recharging the beads).

Sweet. Should've read the blurb. Didn't realise it could do that.

The outdoor sensor is showing rh at 76/77 after 2 hours in. Will turn it off tonight and see what it reads tomorrow.

Obv this is just messing around.

Coolidor switched off for a few hours now. Temp went up 1 degree to 19c and RH has dropped by 10 to 66 and holding steady. Will see where it stands in the morning.

I'm committed at this point, and yes, that has a double meeting. I consider myself an honorary Steelers fan too though after taking my son to a game there, so at least they're good. Oh wait...

OP, I'd recommend a Partagas SD4.

+1 for he SerieD #4, still one of my favorite cigars if not my #1

The desktop humidor arrived. Threw in a 65 just to get the ball rolling until the 84s and distilled water arrive. Thrown the govee in a bag with a 65 to spark that awake. Will look into calibration later.

Yeah I had a little read on that last night. I'll have a proper look once the work day is done.

75.3% after 24 hours. Hes a good'un.

Cheapo in the post for the humidor. Govee into the cooler to see if that's going to work.

Coolidor after 15 hours. Looks good no?

That's with zero additional humidity control.

Let it sit for another 24 hours, then can see what the week tab looks like and how consistent it's staying. People have different preferences for humidity, but that will be fine, more important is that it's consistent.

I have no idea what temperature that is though! 😂

Ah 62F

Thrown in the 8 tupperware with a 65 boveda in each.

Sticks are ok sitting on top of a boveda if in cello? If not there is space to have them in a separate container.

Your flavor profile seems like my, so... For my money one of the best, cheapest cigars (even by the box) are the Quinteros Brevas. Wonderful short smoke, very reasonably priced and a pretty healthy zing to it. The nice thing is you get a pretty big selection at very little price. They're machine made short filler, but as I recall they are do use very good quality tobacco.

Several have mentioned PC's. Not unlike what it appears you like to smoke I'm really partial to Por Larranaga PC's. But Bolivar, Trinidad and Sancho Panza's all are ok in my book.

If you are willing to spend a bit more money - the Ramon Allones Specially Selected or Small Club Coronas, Vegas Robaina Famosos, Cuaba Distinguidos.

I hope that helps!
