What is a quartz claim? As in a bit of leased land for mining?

Exactly. You file a claim and stake off the area. The land itself is still owned by the state but you have rights to exploration and extraction of the minerals. It's a relatively simple process believe it or not.

somewhere in the middle of all that, my dog flops down in the exact middle of the floor and lays there completely still for 2-3 minutes. Then she gets up and continues like nothing happened! I don’t know if she’s resting or hiding…

I am NOT a handyman. My brother is much more so. I've had two leaks in my basement that I've ignored for too long. Today we (he) spent a few hours filling them in (fingers crossed). He'll never see this but he's pretty awesome brother.

Neighbor across from me killed a diamond back rattler earlier right in front of my house. 1 to 2 years old probably with 5 rattles. Didn’t have my phone to get a picture.

He said he killed a good size copperhead the other day also in the same spot.

Creek runs under the road close by.

Today, my home town opened up a time capsule from 50 years ago. There were letters inside from the people that were involved at the time and my dad was one of them. My grandparents also put a letter in for my brother and I. What a teary-eyed treat!
