Happy Thread

I went primitive camping with a friend last weekend and all-in-all we had a great weekend. We knew we would have some rain and possibly a lot, so we set up a couple tarps under the trees where the pin is in the below picture. Sure enough Saturday afternoon at about drunk-thirty, we got an absolute downpour. To get the tarps properly set up, we had to be very close to the creek. The fire was about 5 feet from the bank and in order for both of us to be dry, I was sitting about 3 feet from the bank.

When we had arrived the 30 foot wide stream was nearly dry, after 25 minutes of the downpour there was 2 1/2 feet of raging water flowing. At first we marveled, then we started joking about bailing out, then we started to serious consider what to grab if we had to head to higher ground.

When I told John @jfields this he said "grab the beer"😁 We seriously discussed grabbing the beer and cigars and whatever valuable stuff we could pitch into the bed of the truck.

The rain soon subsided and all was good but it created one of those great memories.

I'm jealous. Had a camping trip planned for last weekend but had to cancel due to lingering back issues. Haven't been camping in a couple years.

Started an Atlanta branch in June for the construction staffing company I work for. We hit a few milestones this month with 20k+ weekly billing and 20 employees working. 5 more to start Monday. #feelsgoodman

This could go in the unhappy thread but it's really better here.

I went to my cabin Friday to play some golf in preparation for an upcoming outing. I spoke to the guy (Vic) who is running it and I am rooming with, bumped knuckles, and went to play. I played one hole and saw the ambulances rolling in. I went straight to the clubhouse and Vic was already in the ambulance, a friend who gave him CPR said Vic was gone!

I was standing next to Vic's daughter when the paramedics came out of the ambulance to tell her he was gone. I don't know his daughter well at all but it was heart-breaking to see her collapse to the ground. I drank with friends and toasted a few too many times.

I came home Saturday and met with @JoeMO , @Eqwhipped , and @Eqwhippette for cigars, drinks and good company. Had it not been for Joe, Steve, and Robyn, I would have had a bad day!

This is why I love this place!

So sorry to hear, Jeff. Life can change in an instant, for you and for those around you. Vic's family and friends are in my thoughts.
