Getting Your Feet Wet Pass #4

OK, The lineup is set. I will be sending out a pm shortly with instructions.
 
Ok guys, here's your first assignment. There are 30 cigars in the lineup and there are 15 of you. I want each of you ( in the order you were added) to take two cigars )first guy, first two cigars and so on) research the prices on the 3 vendors I gave you and come up with the prices we will be using in the pass for these 30 cigars. I would like to see you do it EXACTLY like I did. Give a box price for each cigar from each vendor, divide each box price by the number of cigars in the box, and take the 3 final numbers, add them up, and divide them by 3 to get the corecct pricing. You never know when a contest will pop up, so don't dick around with this stuff!
 
I'm #5, so here are mine for cigars 9 and 10.

Cigar #9- Nica Rustica El Brujito
Holt's- Does not carry
Smoke Inn- $157.95/25 cigars per box = single price of $6.32
CI- $135.53/25 cigars per box = single price of $5.42
Serious- $135.53/25 cigars per box = single price of $5.42

$6.32 + $5.42 + $5.42 = $17.16
$17.16 / 3 = $5.72 average price

Cigar #10- La Riqueza #4
Holt's- $201.95/25 cigars per box = single price of $8.08
Smoke Inn- $199.95/25 cigars per box = single price of $8.00
CI- Does not carry
Serious- $202.50/25 cigars per box = single price of $8.10

$8.08 + $8.00 + $8.10 = $24.18
$24.18 / 3 = $8.06 average price
 
Just to make sure I understand correctly, I am #10 so I should wait until 1-9 select their cigars before I select and post mine, right?

$24.75 / 3 = $8.25 avg price

Serious - $124.95/20 cigars per box = single price of $6.25 (however boxes are out of stock)

Should this cigar be valued at $6.25 or $6.95 based on Serious?
 
Sorry if I jumped the gun. I interpreted the instructions to mean you wanted us to use our entry order to determine which cigars to research not to post in that order and select any remaining cigar.
 
That may be what he meant, I just wasn't sure. I've been known to be a little slow at times.
I upon further review I think you may be correct. I'm going for it.
 
You can go in whatever order you please. Just make sure the cigars you research correspond with the cigars in the lineup. EXP: whoever #12 has cigars 24-25.

You always use the breakdown of a box price, not the single price.
 
I'm glad the out of stock price issue came up as I wondered the same thing since a price on an out of stock item may not be as relevant as an in stock price. It also brings up the issue of what to do if one vendor has the cigar on a clearance or other type of special sale and price materially lower than anywhere else.
 
Boy oh boy. This is going to be fun to watch.

I was thinking the same thing! I was so confused by the cigar missing on each site.

Smoke Inn:  n/a
CI- $15795/22 cigars  =>  $718/cigar
Serious:  $15795/22 cigars  =>  $718/cigar

($720 + $718 + $718)/3 = $719/cigar               ==>  ∴$719 per cigar for this pass

Smoke Inn:  $20395/24 cigars  =>  $850/cigar
Holt's:  $20395/24 cigars  =>  $850/cigar
CI:  $20395/24 cigars  =>  $850/cigar

I had a busy night with my daughter's choir concert (the posting I did was while waiting for it to start). I have a busy day ahead at work today, but I should be able to get this done tonight. I hope that's not too late.
