Fishing HERF !

Update:

East Long Island is out since that boat can only hold 6-8 max.

From talking to all involved I understand Captree is the best way to go.

Right now I see 2 options:

either we just call some party boat a few days in advance that way we can gurantee that we will not have to loose our deposit if the weather is bad and we decide not to go or move it to another day

Another option is this http://www.captbobofishing.com/wwwboard/pages/schedule1.html
The prices are just the same as a big party boat but they only take 20 max so perhaps there is more space and if we get more people we can rent out the whole boat

I'm down either way as the date is good and as long as the weather works out we're in business.

Capt. Bob sounds good to me, I'm down, my guest is still up in the air I will let you know.

I will be out of the country then, as someone who lives and breathes fishing even more than cigars sorry to miss this.

I would however recommend if you are going to Captree one vitally important bit of advice. Look up the Laura Lee and fish with them. They are one of the few boats to set their departure so that they sail with the tide, and since it is late (or early) depending on how you look at it in the season for Stripers you will maximize the chance of actually catching some. They do great night eel trips and you may even get some Weakfish when they stop under the RM bridge and cats Assasins......Good Luck guys, tight lines and catch em' up!!!!

Vince

P.S. It also don't hurt that they have a wicked cute little blond chick as the lead Mate!!!!

Laura Lee ... I know Vince knows his fishing I will try to get in contact with them

As I've been on the Laura Lee more than once ... I can give this one my recommendation as well.
If you are further east and want to go off the north shore, I'd recommend the Celtic Quest out of Port Jeff.

Waiting till Wednesday to see if the weather will be cooperative. If so I will contact the boat and post all the info

Worst case scenerio I have an 18' Rinker with a I/O.. I can hold about 25 - 30 people

The boat will probably sink, but it will be fun and we can smoke :)

I like this!! A little Gilligan's Island theme going off in my head......

Ok guys some good news and some bad news.

The good news is that even though for a while there it looked like Sat weather might be a bit screwed up the forecast just got much better with both Sat and Sun looking bright and sunny which tells me the eather will be on our side.

Now as far as the bad news: I spoke to a few people who manage the boats and they told me that Strippers are really slow this time and if we want to have any chance of getting them we have to go later at night 10 or 11 or so. Blues are still catchable but the later trip is also better for those. People onn Laura Lee said that they trip to do a combination trip at this point so they do some bottom fishing and some fishing for blues / strippers. But he 6 PM trip will most likelly have much more fluke than strippers or blues.

SO we have to make a decision here if we take the 6pm trip and do mostly bottom fishing or go for the evening one with a possibility of catching some bigger fish

I have no problem with the 6-10 trip. The later one could be a problem though.

I'd rather do the later trip. I deal with enough bottom feeders at work. :p
