Everyday pours

Let me tell you, it has to be good and I can't wait to read the review. That is, once I send it to him. :sign: Package away tomorrow. :)

A lot of great recommendations on this thread. I'm especially intrigued by the McClelland's since I've seen it at the NEX and assumed it was a no-name, bad-tasting brand. I'll have to pick up a couple bottles. As for my contribution, I like the Bowmore Legend. It's about half the price of Bowmore 12 and very good. My scotch palate is not very refined yet, so there may be subtleties that I'm missing, but I enjoyed it very much. I'll have to try the McClelland's Islay. I have a feeling that it's going to be extremely similar since Bowmore makes it.

If you are truely looking for "everyday pours" that won't break the bank then the following should interest you. There are all in the $20 and under range in my area.

McClelland's is in reality 5 yo Morrison Bowmore product. The Highland is Glen Garoich, the Lowland is Auchentoshan and the Islay is Bowmore itself.

Another good budget dram is The Speyburn and it even comes in a metal tube. Lismore is also a decent Highland dram and can sometimes be found for $15 on sale. There are also a 21 and 25 yo version but I've not had them.

Lastly there is a Speyside distillery called Speyside who produces a malt also called Speyside which isn't too widely distributed yet but worth the money if you run across it.

These are true "everyday" drams if you like to have something that often.

Search is my friend. Wife and I were browsing a local liquor store (actually had a fair selection of smokes there) and ran across a bottle of Lismore "Single Speyside Malt Scotch Whiskey" . It had a dram in the box as a gift set and went for $18. Another 750ml bottle next to it was something like $25 (without the dram). I'll bite! I'm not a scotch drinker and the first few sips were less than pleasant, so I took another suggestionhere and dropped 2 ice cubes in the dram. That was pretty good! I guess we have yet another scotch drinker on CP.

I haven't seen any Lismore around here in over a year. $18 isn't a bad price on it. Welcome to the fold my son :p
