You're right burtch. I thought maybe there were some instances where the period went outside the quotes. I never really understood why you'd end a sentence and then have more punctuation outside the boundaries of that sentence, but English is what it is.

ETA two interesting quotation mark rules:

Place a question mark or exclamation point within closing quotation marks if the punctuation applies to the quotation itself. Place the punctuation outside the closing quotation marks if the punctuation applies to the whole sentence.

Do not use quotation marks for words used as words themselves. In this case, you should use italics.

Don, please try to be more careful with your apostrophe usage. In no way is get's ever acceptable. It is impossible for get to show ownership and you would never say "get is". I have noticed your usage of "your" and "you're" is often incorrect as well. If you are ever unsure, just expand the contraction and see if it makes sense. For example: "I went to you're house to smoke" becomes "I went to you are house to smoke". Or, "Your driving too fast!". My driving too fast? No, You ARE driving too fast. Lastly, "its" is the possessive form of it, and "it's" is the contraction of it is.

It is not just you Don, this problem permeates the board as well the entire internet. Why it is becoming more prevalent I cannot say, perhaps because nobody thinks to correct it. I will not sit idly by any longer and allow these grammatical atrocities to continue. That goes for all of you. Shape up and think about what you are typing, it will make you a better poster.

This will be the last time I ask anyone nicely. From now on you will face unending ridicule and correction.

Up you're's.

Honestly not to be contrary to my typical nature, but I am pretty sure this has been beat into the ground. Not saying you should forget what he did but dude has ceased the sales and apologized, he really can't do much more. Not defending him mind you, just saying it is a little redundant to keep hammering after he has capitulated.

Couldn't have written it better myself.

You stayed out of it until you felt you needed to be heard and that's all anyone saw....

As for me, this is exactly right. You generally won't hear from me when I agree with what's going on. I let people handle it, unless I've been directly involved with the issue. I listed a number of drama threads that I stayed out of the last time this came up. And I rarely stick up for the person being called out. I usually have an issue with the way it's done or people pussyfooting around the issue instead of just stating exactly what the problem is and what they want for a resolution.

I guess I need to start jumping on the bandwagon a little more so people see me agreeing with the police actions. :D

The first part of your post is spot on, btw. Everyone sees things differently, handles things differently, etc. Everyone should be able to state their side, even if it disagrees with the group mentality at the time.

I know you were addressing Don more, but you drug my name into it, too. I can't nor won't speak for Don. As with everyone, I agree with some of what he says and disagree with other parts.
