CPs Most Underrated Cigars

Connies maduros (# 30. 9 and 84 all maduros), padron xxxx and mayorgas gets my vote.

snip...Also, if you smoke 'em young, the Sancho Panza Double Maduro are mighty tasty.

Hey Wilkey, I'm suprised at this comment. I love these smokes, especially the La mancha. Unfortunately, when I get a box they never last long enough to have any age. You saying they don't age well??

i am confused if this is about value cigars or underrated cigars....so I will go with underrated...and I will say the AB Trilogy Ovation maduro....a great sweet maduro, that if picked up on C-bid at the right time can be less than $2 a stick.

There is that suggestion based on the one box of Quixotes I've gone through. Fresh, they were very tasty. Satisfying even. However, after about 8 months, they started to go flat. Milder, less punchy. I'd say some of the sweetness had faded.

I think this is a general concern I have with "bargain" cigars. I cannot even theorize what might be going on but they don't seem to have the legs to age. I'm starting to see a diminshment of the cacao notes in my box of Mayorgas maddies. They are still decent, just not quite as beany or sweet. The only bargain cigars I've smoked recently which really seem to hold up are the Gran Habanos #5 Corojo and the Black Pearl Rojo. Tons of flavor and no signs of weakening but then neither of these are particularly sweet. I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

My best guess is that these are typically released so fresh they haven’t gone though a stage of ageing yet so after some time they get “flat” after a few more months ~(6) they seem to come back around. That just my experiences. Your other "bargin" cigars may have already undergone this sitting in the store.

Do any of you guys know a good sampler pack that has good cheap cigars? A collection of good ones that can be had for 2-3$. I’m just starting so I’m playing around in the low dollar stuff. My strategy right now is to find a good cheap one I like and buy 25 of them.

Carlos Toraño Exodus 1959

I would classify these as "underrated" because I don't see too many people raving about them other than me. :D They're a good deal price wise, about $4.00 a stick.

Seeing your screen named prompted me to remember, Muniemaker. Without a doubt the most underrated cigar around here.

Doc.

I have to agree here, I love this sticks. I just bought a box just to let them sit for a while.

your best bet would be the newbie sampler trade in the buy/sell/trade section of this site. you will get great bang for your buck, and will get to try a nice variety of cigars.

Thanks, someone else PMed me and gave me the same advice. That’s next on my list. I just made a trade so I will have no more room for a little bit, until I smoke some more or get a bigger humidor. It feels good to have too many, even if its because my storage is puny.

Glad you brought this up bro, I wanted to realign the thread when Connie 9's were mentioned (certainly not underrated, everyone raves about them), but I also didn't want to come across as a whiney dick.

This isn't a thread about value, it may be worth mentioning, but that wasn't the thought behind the post. What cigars do you think deserve more attention, more hype, if you will. That's where we're at here.

As you were...

I will add one more to the list...

Fonseca Cubano Limitado...A great smoke, and I hardly ever see it talked about. I think it came out of RTDA last year.

Tatuaje Havana VI Victoria.

I never hear this vitola mentioned and it is my favorite of the red-labels and one of my favorite sticks over-all!

I'm going to add my voice on the LGC Wavell. This is a very tasty medium smoke that I almost never see getting any love around here. Although my opinion is opposite Cuppajack's (he likes these better than Padron 2000s, while I prefer the 2000s), the Wavell is a genuinely worthy alternative to the Padron if you want to shake your rotation up a little.
