Keeping my eyes open Phil. It looks like they likely tried to deliver the box today (I'll know when I see the little pink card) which means I can go pick it up tomorrow at the post office.

I have a question about a Take for the Pass members. I'm interested in the Diamond Crown Maximus Stanfords 90th. I found the release price to be $20/stick MSRP and I was thinking I'd use a Padron 45 with an MSRP of $25/stick as a Put. It was pointed out to me that there is a rarity factor on the Stanford that might make that Put inadequate. Opinions?

Is the 45th a limited release? I don't pay attention to bad cigars. I'd say go for it.

A) What is the production, in a general sense, on the padron?
B) Is this pass host ok with a little rarity being made up in a little value (and vice verse)?

To answer the other *helpful* posts:

The 45 is indeed a limited production cigar although there may ultimately be a higher number of cigars rolled in total than the Stanford. It seems like folks are thumbs up so far so, unless there is an objection still to come, I'll go for it.

I'll have a full list of the MPLS guys Puts and Takes by Friday morning.

64. Boli Gold Medal - PUT 70: El Rey Del Mundo Choix supreme 06 Boli is a $7.50-$8 stick, the ERDM is only about $5.50-6. It's too light on the put. I say no.

To tip you over on the Frank and to even out the bgm, I'll throw in a Mag 50. Just to know, what would be your trade for the Frank? If you can let me know before 6am and I have the stick , I may be able to be to accommodate. If throwing the Mag 50 is still not enough and/or I do not have the stick that you think is a match. then I'll just take the P2.

I was not influenced by your other put proposal, but I've been giving it some thought, and I am the one that made the argument that I thought they were fair in Phil's pass thread, so I'm going to allow the Frank for Drac in my pass. I think the argument that rarity is close enough on those to sticks that I'm going to let it fly unless someone else has a major problem with it. No extra put is needed.

However, if you still wanted that Boli Gold Medal, the Mag 50 would work as a put for it.

Just let me know today or tonight once you guys get everything finalized. Also, Tim has my cell number so you guys are welcome to call or text me tonight to discuss any other proposals or any questions.
 
Here is my reasoning in this thread as to why I think the Drac for Frank put/take works. While there were more Dracs produced (1300 boxes vs. 666 boxes) I still think that puts them in the same ballpark rarity wise. I know others don’t agree with this, but I am of the opinion that when you are talking quantities of production this small there is still a similar degree of rarity. I believe that one of the few puts/takes that work for any of the Tat Monster series is another one of the Monster series cigars. MSRP is always going to match, and they are both limited release sticks, only available in a limited number of shops, released once a year. I am of the opinion that future Monster series releases, unless the really up the production numbers, are going to be acceptable puts for any other Monster series cigar. This is one of those instances where I think the pass hosts are going to vary in their stance on these cigars, and I don’t think this is the last time we will debate this topic.
 
FWIW I think it is totally at your discretion. I tend to be more nitpicky about rarity than price/origin but ybdmv. On the other hand I couldn't give half a shit about whatever the hot new tatuaje is so I have a level of objectivity in discussing those trades.

Thanks Phil. Ultimately I don’t want my pass to set a bad precedent going forward for future passes. I am admittedly pretty lenient on what puts/takes I am willing to allow.
