Alright, Arkansas had no chance in that game. Alabama outplayed them on every facet of the ball.
HOWEVER... I've very, very, VERY rarely called any team "dirty", as this is a smash mouth game by nature. I am still disgusted, though, by the rash of blatant helmet-to-helmet hits, ridiculously late hits at full speed and impact, and outright attempts to injure the Arkansas quarterbacks. Only one of which was called for a personal foul. I understand the need to break the other players' will and put the fear of being hit into him, thus forcing mistakes, but, Alabama went far beyond that into the realm of dirty playing. Apparently I'm not the only one who saw this, as the commentators were questioning the lack of penalties and deliberate hits.
I'm not saying it because I'm butt hurt Arkansas lost. I honestly couldn't care less. I'm an Irish fan who just happened to live in the SEC for a little over a decade. I have passing sentimental interest in it. I'd be calling it the same if it had been Arkansas making those blatant fouls and dirty plays. I lost a lot of respect for Alabama yesterday. They were handling Arkansas on every play. There was no need to resort to deliberate unsportsmanlike conduct.
