Cognac Infused?

I don't think I'm reaching too much by saying you're in uncharted waters.  You're the Ponce de Leon of cigar infusion.  I would suggest trial and error and report back with your findings so future generations can benefit from your experiment.

So you're saying he should drink the infusion and become younger?

Yes, because that's all he did.  For those of us with degrees, it's fairly common knowledge that he was heavily involved in the subjugation of the Tainos.  Now let me know if I go too fast.  The Tainos were an indigenous people that inhabited Puerto Rico, Hispaniola and Cuba.  Now I'm coming to the part where I purposefully used this explorer in my post on a cigar board.  You see, the Tainos raised many crops and one of them was tobacco which the Spanish liked very much and exported back to the Continent and from there the popularity exploded and morphed into this cigar hobby we all share.  In fact, that image burned into every box of Cohiba cigars is the image of a Tainos.  So yes, some of you may often associate Ponce de Leon with the "Fountain of Youth", he in fact did many things in his life.  The Tainos aspect is why I chose him over someone like the Norse explorer Leif Garrett.

Stop drinking the humidor water.

And stop licking the beads.

Don't encourage him John.  His unfounded hate manifests itself just fine on its own.

Embrace your inner crumpet, Clint

Ok I opened the (science experiment) today. The sticks are super moist. So I am going to leave them out all of today and check them tonight or tomorrow morning and see if they have mellowed out at all. Wondering if I should allow them to dry out covered in coffee or espresso grounds. That will help pull some moisture out of them and maybe infuse them some more?

** Just my thoughts **

Ok I just took a french vanilla K-Cup and cut the top off. After letting them air out for the day I put the K-CUP in the *science vacuum chamber* AKA POS Tupperware lol, and added a tablespoon of vanilla extract to the grounds. I will allow this to sit for this week. And I think this science experiment or disaster *whatever you want to call it* will be done. I plan on taking the sticks out Saturday of next week and letting them air out and I would like to light up 1 of each Monday, and report back Monday afternoon. If all goes well I will start another batch and send some around if anyone's interested in my CREATION pending they come out ok...... lol

Sounds like an interesting project.

Not sure 3 weeks (if I'm reading this thread correctly) will give the cigars enough time to infuse the flavors.  I would imagine that Drew Estates probably infuses their leaves for months before rolling them.

Maybe you should pull one out and try it, while leaving the others in the Tupperware to infuse longer.

Ok so I took out a stick from the Vacuum chamber of hell tonight  And put it in a open bag with ground espresso to dry out and absorb some of the taste of the grounds. (I hope?) the stick was super wet, so im going to light her up tomorrow if its mellowed out some. I also added some espresso grounds to the vacuum chamber. How long they stay in there will be based on tomorrows smoke test!

Im not sure ill be able to pull that off at work. But ill give it a go. Depends on how much the boss is around lol. If not ill do the best write up I can.

Good luck cleaning all the coffee grounds off that
I know somewhere on the interwebs is an article about infusing your own cigars with oils and coffee grounds but for the life of me I can't find it. I do remember it saying you had to keep them in a container together for a few months though.

I'm curious how your expirement turns out though!

Ya im getting antsy lol I had to take one out and try the progress. Im going to leave the others in longer...I THINK..... lol maybe ill get some oils next time. My unflavored sticks in there are going to stay in for the long run, this will tell me how well it worked. The 1st 2 to come out are the vanilla sticks already. 1 tonight and based on tomorrows results the other one.....to be determined

Paul I just watched your video review! badass nice job, thats why you want me to do a video to make me look like a fool lol. I couldnt even get up in front my of class and read a report and you think ill be able to do a video review even close to that! ha. well stick with text for now!

Ok guys! Here is what you have all been waiting for! (not really) actually im sure for most of you this is the last thing you were waiting for! But.....With out further ado. My 1st stick out of the French Vanilla Coffee Infused death chamber!

Ill start from the beginning.

I started with 2 Tatiana Vanilla Sticks and 2 Casa de Garcias.
For the 1st week I added a French Vanilla K-Cup Shot w/ a hint of vanilla extract to the CHAMBER

I allowed that to sit for 1 week. At the end of the first week I took the sticks out, after allowing them to air out for the afternoon *in hope to dry them out a bit before having a chance to absorb any new flavors in the chamber* I then went and added a shot of Espresso grounds with some boiling water (left the grounds in the cup)

Now I allowed this "BREW" to sit in the CHAMBER OR DOOM! for a week, and once again at the end of the week, I took the sticks out allowing them to once again air out for a few hrs before introducing them to there next infusion. For this I simply took a French Vanilla K-Cup cut off the top and added Vanilla extract only to the grounds. Allowing this to sit for 1 week. Well Yesterday was 3 weeks in the chamber, and being the impatient guy I am I couldnt wait any longer to at least try one, to see where they stood. So yesterday I took out 1 Tatiana Stick and put it in a open zip lock back with Espresso grounds to hopefully soak up some of the moisture and add a little more coffee flavors......

SO TODAY WAS THE BIG DAY!

So after brushing off the espresso grounds, it was finally time! So outside I went. First smell of the unlit stick was insane! Vanilla like crazy! After lighting that bad boy up, *note*(no one at my work likes the smell of anything ive smoked around here* within 30 seconds of first light everyone came over going OMG what is that? That smells insane! So success #1. First draw was Vanilla Crazy! Followed by that Sweet Bitter Espresso taste on the tounge as if you had a untouched shot of espresso. Puff after puff w/ the same results, Half way point comes and goes STILL same vanilla exhale followed by bitter espresso. Every once in a while I THINK I get a hint of a floral note....but I think its my mind playing tricks due to the over whelming vanilla scents and tastes. The ash never stuck around for more then 1 - 2 inches but this is expected from a $5 stick to begin with. (can not wait to try out a much better Casa de Garcias Stick) *when the time comes!*

So my final thoughts are, after 3 weeks what I set out to do......Seemed to work VERY, EXTREMELY well to be honest. Now if I can replicate this to a premium MILD stick as I hope the Casa de Garcias will produce, well then guys in my book at least it was a success.

All that said, I will have 1 Tatiana Stick and 1 Casa de Garcias left over once I try the Casa de Garcias. I am willing to send the 2 left overs out to someone willing to give me there input? I know you guys arent much for flavors but id like a outside review when all said and done. PM Me if you think you wanna be a TEST RAT.

(ps Sorry for the shit write up I couldnt wait till I got home to sit down and do this nice, I busted it out fast at work LOL)

Nice review, and interesting experiment. Glad to see you got the results you were looking for.

Now, try doing that with an Opus Power Ranger. ;)

Lol hmmmm not sure I would try that or that the wife would allow me to do that in our espresso machine lol

Well, try to stick to caps and punctuation! ;)

A cigar that is underhumidified will more readily absorb your flavorings.

Ya I started with a a few sticks that were around......65% at the most. And then allowed them a day to air out each week. Hoping for exactly what you said.

Cool review! I'm curious to see how the uninfused stick tastes. I really like infused cigars still, so I may be giving this a try with a cheap uninfused stick in the future.
