Cigarpass Book Thread

Just finished Musashi by Eiji Yoshikawa. I try not to use the word epic when describing something, because if everything is epic then nothing is truly epic. But, to simply put it this book was epic. For a book spanning close to 1,000 pages it is amazing how little fat there was to it. Every page, paragraph, and sentence moves the story along. Every character has a true purpose. If I had only one problem it is that I will never truly get to experience this book for the first time again.

@CgarDan keeps posting with his books so it makes me want to pickup my books again. Last night my wife told me about a quick book I would really enjoy. Boy was she right.. Lit up a cigar at 6:30pm last night and after 2 cigars and a 5 hours later I finished it. It was only 185 pages but it was a great little tale. It's free on Kindle unlimited and its a youth book so its a very easy read.

The night Raven (Moonwind Mysteries) By Johan Rundberg

Just finished Dark Days by Randy Blythe. As a fan of the band lamb of god, I remember following the events of Randy's incardination in Prague from allegedly pushing a fan off stage and the fan sustaining injuries that lead to his death. You don't have to be a lamb of god fan to enjoy this book as it mainly focuses on Randy's time in jail and the following trail. I really enjoyed Blythe's openness and honesty towards everything that was happening.

I have stopped reading print all together, with about an hour and a half of commute I use Libby and and do audio books now, I am 3 hours and 1 complete book away from finally finishing The Dark Tower, a series I have been obsessed with since 1988

I listened to an audio book on my drive to Wichita last week. It was rather enjoyable but I found it was difficult to keep my attention. In the car is great, other places not so much.

My drive is all back roads so it works well
45-50 minutes each direction

Pardon my ignorance but I am vaguely interested in audio books but don't know where to start? I won't do this frequently but would be interested in using it for long drives. What is the most cost effective way to do this considering it will be a "once in a while" thing?

We have Kindle unlimited through amazon for reading. I opened the book on my phone and it gave me a link to "listen" I think you'd do well using Audible.

YouTube is pretty good for the classics and it's free...

Please come back and let us know what you think about it when you've finished.

Indeed, "The Song of Susanna" will be complete tomorrow or the next day, then it is on the the last of the books!
I am pretty excited
