I may not be looking for something top of the line just yet, but here is kind of what Im looking at doing.
This is the new stock I put on it:

- I didn't want to go over the top with something nicer...after all it is only a $120 firearm...kicks like a mule though. The stocks the m44's come on were dipped in that preservation oil...and it was just too damn greasy for me to tolerate it anymore. The black synthetic fit perfectly and actually looks pretty good.
This is the mount I'm looking at getting:

There's a couple things that are preventing me from wanting to make the investment for this particular rifle though. First is that it has the bayonet that is fixed on the barrel, and would require gun smithing in order to remove it properly. Second, since I have a straight bolt, It would require more time and money to have the bolt re-drilled for the bent handle to use with the scope...then of course I have to get the new stock drilled for a scope.
All in all, I'm not sure how much I'm looking at with the removal of the bayonet, and that's even if I want it removed. It may serve no purpose...but at least it is aesthetically pleasing. It seems like to much of an investment in a screw-around rifle.
Maybe I should wait until I buy myself the Benelli R1 I've been yearning for, meh, so many choices in this hobby.
