Bill’s best years for Cuban cigars

Bill @CigSid have you had any cigars from 21 yet? I am smoking PUNCH PUNCH - SUP ENE 21. Definitely notice the difference from 20: lighter wrapper color, no ammonia vapors, less depth in the flavor
But even though it does have that young cigar nuances interestingly enough the rough around the edges or harshness that is usually there in young sticks is not present

Curious about your experience if any with these new sticks

Dan, I have not smoked any cigars from 2021 yet. I have heard that the crops for these cigars were no where near the quality as the crop for the late 19 batch and most of 2020, but it is good to get your feedback on these 2021 cigars.

If the others smoke the way this one did it might just be one of those years where these might be good to smoke right away vs aging

Well, I know which ones I'm smoking first when this month's gets here...

@CigSid Bill, I assume the answer to this may be loosely found in here but I read all posts and didn't find the exact answer. I want to buy some cigars that will be "special" RIGHT NOW. Let's say the options were a good box code from 2020 at $240 or a good box code of the same cigar from 2014 at $440.

I would definitely go with the good box code from 2014’s, they are worth the premium price.

Haven’t I taught you anything? I told you there was going to be a test later.

Oh my friend, you have taught me many things. Some of them I could mention here. Like what not to do with an ice cube. What not to do with a pipe bomb. What not to do with a toilet sitting by the road.

And.......you taught me that I should never go to camp, with you anyway, without a case of Screwball!

Yeah, but I meant that whole conversation where I basically gave you the same answer Bill just did... “You’re better off having one box of aged Cohiba, vs. six boxes of newer mediocre stuff.”
Or, were we a few Screwballs in during that conversation? 🤔

I have no knowledge, so I will plead the Fifth. Or it might have been the fourth fifth.

Edited to add: Dick, are you calling my cigars mediocre?o_O

Anything from 2013 are exceptional regardless of factory. The tobacco rolled for that year's boxcodes (2012 harvest?) was somehow a great cache on the island. I have RA SS 50 cabs and Serie D #4 that were out of this world when I got them in 2014 - still rock to this day.

Also note with the recent hurricane that some smokes with a 2020/2021 might just be horrible. I don't know, just speculating. Thoughts?

2020 has been incredible. I believe Bill said that the "bad" cigars can start to be expected with the late 2022/2023 boxes, as everything being released now was already harvested before the hurricanes. IIRC (and I could be way off), the storms will have stripped the soil for the next rotation or two, resulting in sub-par crops. I'll let @CigSid correct me.
