Anyone else limit themselves?

Being a college student and all I usually have a lot going on so time is definitely a limiting factor. Usually I will have 1-2 per week. At most I highly doubt I will ever smoke more than five a week as I too worry a little about the health risks associated with smoking too frequently. I kinda feel as a young man I should pace myself seeing as though I wont be quitting any time soon. I'm hoping that I have a lot of years ahead of me and at my comfortable pace I will get a chance to enjoy a LOT of cigars. That's just me...I say do whatever floats your boat

Bro - my situation mirrors yours almost entirely, although - even with classes (15hrs a week), homeowrk, and my part-time job (24-30 hours a week) i still find time when I could light up quite a few cigars. The part of your statement that almost completely sums my situation up is this: "I too worry a little about the health risks associated with smoking too frequently. I kinda feel as a young man I should pace myself seeing as though I wont be quitting any time soon. I'm hoping that I have a lot of years ahead of me and at my comfortable pace I will get a chance to enjoy a LOT of cigars."

I too am with both of you gentleman. I'm a bit worried about the health risks if I'm smoking one a day so I usually average one a week. I'm actually somewhat mad with the way tobacco risks and health problems are protrayed in society.

Lately, the wind has been so bad here that one can't keep anything lit. Not only that, but smoking in any building is prohibited in Ohio. n addition, I try to smoke only nice cigars, most of which can be somewhat pricey, so if I can keep it to one a week, I can save money. Being a college student one doesn't exactly have 'spending money' and a lot of it needs to be rationed. But you probably all know that.

Good to see your still posting on here Aaron. I don't think I've been on here since September! I've just been so busy with classes, activities, and people I haven't had the time to sit down and post. But I'm going to try to make it a habit to get on here at least a couple of times a week. I need some more knowledge. Send me a message sometime Aaron.

I smoke infrequently enough that I make no conscious effort to limit myself. Additionally, most of my smoking is done outdoors in the open air as opposed to an enclosed, poorly ventilated space where smoke and smoke particles can accumulate to astronomical levels. In the warm seasons, I can pack in 3 cigars a day 2 or three times a week. In the colder seasons, maybe a few a month not counting herfs which can bring another 3 cigars per.

Sure, I worry about it, but based on what I've read, the risk is not at a level where I feel the need to curtail.

Do I feel I can keep on doing this and still live to see my grandchildren someday? Yes. And so onward we roll.

The things limiting me are opportunity, weather, money, and my girlfriend, who can't stand tobacco in any form but doesn't mind what I do when not around her (well, within reason :whistling: ). Being young seems to be synonymous with being poor, so I can't afford to light a box of Anejo Sharks on fire each week, and really only get to sample "high-end" cigars through singles; I try to buy three cigars that I normally wouldn't be able to buy en masse each time I visit my B&M. When I do smoke, I have to check to make sure no one who would be bothered by it will be around to bother me, because that ruins the enjoyment.

Healthwise, I'm not too worried as the evidence doesn't say that someone who smokes at my rate (1-2 a week), is at any increased risk of damage.

I promised myself I would only visit my B&M once a week when I started out. That has now turned to 2 to 3 times a week since its only a few blocks away and they have a fantastic selection. I work from home so it is quite easy to smoke a couple a day. Fortunately my wife is a school counselor and she doesn't get home till late evening, which gives the house time for the smell to subside.

1-2 a week for me. Maybe 3 at most, all depending on how much "spare" time I have. Or how often my girlfriend isnt around the house, only because she doesnt like the smell of old cigars on me....but I dont think she likes anything I do....j/k. Or am I... damn.
