I'm seeing several threads where people got robbed. Seems that with the economy in the shape it is in, we're going to see a big increase in theft. A couple months ago I went to the T-Mobile store to buy a new blackberry. While I was there, two guys (well, a guy and female who looked like a guy) came in. They were acting very suspicious. About 15 minutes later the alarm went off and they ran out the door into their getaway car. They cut one of the security cables to one of the phones and ran out.

Just two nights ago I was sitting in a restaurant (near the window which faces Burlington Coat Factory). It's a really busy street, lots of traffic and people. I happened to look over, and I see this guy carrying a bunch of clothes, runs out the emergency exit and a car pulls up as he's running out, hops in the car and they speed down the street. They just got robbed and didn't even know it. About 3 min later one of the associates walks outside, looks around, and walks back in the store - she had no idea they just got robbed.

A couple weeks ago I was at the market, and the manager ran outside after someone - turns out he was trying to steal a bag of chips and some other groceries. When the store manager ran after him, he dropped everything and ran away.

It's getting nasty out there. Make sure you keep your cars secured, activate your house alarms, and be prepared. Times are tough, and the crime rate is about to skyrocket.

Yes it is my friend was held up at gun point at the gas station. The took his watch that happened to be a Rolex. I agree tough times bring a lot of crime.

In the past two days, 4 of my friends, including myself, have had their PIN or SSNs stolen. Rough when this is happening to college kids with no credit. My father's car just got broken into as well, all for a stupid GPS in the dash. Rough times indeed... But still, I will never sink to that level...

As someone that works in the law enforcement biz, theft always goes up around Thanksgiving and will slow back down again after the first of the year.

Tim

My wife was watching Dr. Phil when I got home yesterday. There was a couple on there who did theft for a living. The made about $150,000 doing this crap.

Be safe.

Crazy sh.t going on in Minneapolis as well. People are getting beaten up and mugged coming out of parking ramps, going to their cars, etc. I couldn't agree more Rod. Good time to make sure things in your house are insured as well.

10-4 to that Timmy, and make sure you watch your six brother. Be safe. As dangerous as it is for "Joe Citizen" regarding thefts like Rod has stated, it's 10 times more dangerous for your uniforms facing these degenerate assholes.

We're seeing more and more people with nothing to lose, and that makes them desperate, and desperate people take violent action. Be safe.

I'm gonna have to get my shoulder rig out and start carrying the Ruger GP100 instead of the little AMT .380

Lots more child and domestic abuse, as well. Folks are taking it out on their kids and spouses.

Doc.

True enough, crime IS on the rise. Just look at the Auto Execs sticking up the American Taxpayer! Sorry, just trying to point out White Collar crime as well, NOT political. Anyway, make sure to mark personal items with your Drivers License number that way you have a better chance of getting them back if they are ever recovered.
ALSO - Here in Texas, we have conceal & carry laws so we just shoot the muggers/jackers/intruders/robbers/etc! ;) :p

edited for spelling.

In Portland it is all the fing Meth heads! they are steeling catalytic converters from under trucks like mad around here cause they have a small amount of precious metals in them rp

It's not unusual for this time of year. The real probem I've seen in Indy is home invasion is on the rise. I've got the house covered almost the entire time my kids are home, but I am worried about the 20 mins. that they are here before I get home from work.

I think it's a good idea to brief them on what to do if something is strange/different with the house when they get home from school. Sounds like a great way to spend a Sunday.

10-4 to that! I have mine, need to renew in March but I always keep mine in the car with me. If it's someplace I'm not sure about, then I slip it into the waistband.

That's very true, there is a lot more theft going on around this area also, good thing I am a stay at home Dad so I work from home plus I am my own security system, the Glock is always within reach.

So I am hanging out here reading the thread and I get a call from an 800 number......It is my credit card company trying to find out if I bought something for 800.00 in CA. I told them the last thing I bought with the card was cigars. I am glad I answered the phone.

Heyyy...actually, sorry about that. I forgot to tell you that Swissy and I kinda "borrowed" your card to make a few..."purchases" we'll call them.

I hope you're not mad. :( :(
