I really hate having to do this. I understand we all have problems in our lives … here’s mine and I need some help. Last thing I need is drama ... I am not trying to set a mob on this person, so if anyone knows anything, please shed some light. This is also not meant for a bash session nor to embarrass him but more of a learning experience that I hope someone doesn't have to go through ...

A few weeks ago I placed a sale in the Buy/Sell/Trade forums to sell off some cigars for wedding funds. I sold a sampler but was still left with 7 Samplers (79 sticks). Rod Ehrlich approached me by PM and asked if I can give a deal if he takes all remaining sticks. So I told him sure, gave him an offer including shipping and we made the deal. I did some check up work on him and saw he had over a year on CigarPass and he’d also dealt with some other fellow BOTL’s that I have in the past. I also saw no threads of complaints with others complaining about him. A day after our deal he said he sent his end and to notify him when the check arrived, so in good faith I sent the boxes out. Out of a thank you I included another 8 or so sticks (an Anejo, 4 ISOM’s, and others).

Boxes were delivered and still no money. Proof of Delivery: UPS 1ZE13W050340307841 and 1ZE13W050340661459. I PM’d him to see if the boxes arrived OK and No reply. I waited 2 more days I PM’d him again to see if he sent the check because I still have not received payment. While doing this I could see he was still coming on line on the forum boards. To me this was a sign that he was avoiding me. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt because from personal experience I know how sudden things can happen in your life and you lose track of things. So I contact a few fellow BOTL’s and asked some advice. I was given his personal email address. I proceeded with a simple email:
"Hey Rod,

Hope everything is ok. Been trying to get a hold of you to find out about our deal. I show the box was delivered to your address, but unfortunately I have not received the check or mo ....

Want to know when I should expect the money?

Thanks

Mike "

Still No response.

While writing this he PM'd me stating he got the boxes last night and if I got the check. I replied and said no and when and where did he send the money? He was off line ... Again no answer. Now what should I do?

Rod, I hope things are ok, but with the lack of communication I am not sure what to think. I don't need details but a simple 'Hey I can't get the money out to you yet' would do. Yes I was really in need of the money, it was part of my down payment for the florist, but for a fellow BOTL I can make exceptions.

Still waiting...

What in the world is going on around here lately? Is communicating throughout a transaction really that difficult?

What has the actual time line been? What are the actual dates of the events described? Sometimes mail is slow, even intrastate. It sounds like plenty of time would have passed, but you never know. The lack of communication is distressing, especially if he's been on the board. If you have time to log on, you surely have time to type a quick PM.

I hope things work out for you. This is getting ridiculous...

Mike,

Sorry to hear that this has not been a smooth transaction, especially because the purpose of the sale was clearly stated. Hang in there and hopefully there is a happy ending to this soon.

I hope this all gets cleared up. I've not had any issues with anyone as of yet (knock on wood), but then again I really don't do much buying, so that may be why. I have done some inquirys in the past via pm, and noticed in the past that sometimes people don't respond. :(

I really don't know how to take that. Its not that hard to click "reply" and we do have message tracking so for those who think they might be slick...guess what...your not. I've found that here for the most part, people are very very understanding, and a little pm goes a long way. Communication is the key to not miscommunicating, right?

I hope he settles up with you ASAP! It is always about communication and I hope everyone gets this message.

The clock is ticking so Rod Ehrlich the ball is in your court!

Hope it all works out for you. Cannot stress enough that communication is the key.

Since he finally did make contact, I'd suggest that you PM him again and ask him to stop payment on the check (on the presumption he sent it and that it got lost in the mail system) and to reissue you a new one. Immediately.

Two other options that might work depending on your circumstances:
1. He does not foresee having the cash to pay for these and so he returns your cigars.

2. He foresees having the cash in the very near future, sets a concrete date (not just "in a week or two") to send you your money.

Unless there is some mystical fourth option, these are the ways in which Rehrlich can resolve this situation.

Mike, I hope this gets straightened out quickly and decisively. Please keep us informed.

Deal was made on August 27th ... Box went out UPS August 30th, delivered Sept 4th, and been trying to get some answers since the Sept 4th ... we are looking at a 2 week time line here.

That's unacceptable. I just wanted to make sure because a month or so ago people started dumping on a guy after 4 days. I know you wouldn't take action like calling out if it wasn't the last resort, but I think everyone needs to see it.

I hope you get something worked out. It's amazing to me how some people just drop out of a deal and expect it to go away.

Get your chit together, Rod Ehrlich. Get this man his money.

I am a bit curious ... if he's turned around and selling them on another site?

Again he's poped back on and has not replied to my PM's.

What gives you that suspicion? Have you seen these cigars listed for sale on another forum?

Wilkey

No suspicion Wilkey. Just curious ... Considering this Is the only cigar site I'm on there is no way to monitor it.

Ok.

But this ignoring your repeated PMs even after this has gone public is just befuddling to me.

Rehrlich, this is not going away and it's not going to get better. Get in contact with Mike and get this straightened out. Doing so is in your best interest.

Wilkey

PM sent. He and I had a "less than stellar transaction"

Can anyone verify the Buys. Sales and Trades listed in Profile?

Damn some people are just unfugginbelieveable.

You sold these sticks because you need the money and that annoys me even more.

If he does not pay you, let me know the amount and I'll send you a check for the florist. This is important to other people besides you, they shouldn't have to suffer.

Brian

Back in the day, on some other forums, we used to call the guy that banned people "the hammer".

I was for awhile, the hammer. You didn't mess with the hammer. As much as I hate to say it, maybe we need to hammer more and think less, until we can get stuff like this under control. :(
