I just checked and the oldest one showing up for me is from October 2009. I've been here since 2004, so I figure I'm missing some older than 2009.

2013 is as far back as mine go. Between software upgrades and server crashes, 'stuff' happens. Good news is Rod's got us on what I think is the very best forum software going, now. Best chance there is of not having things go sideways in the future. Well, other than the users.... 
If PM's are going back to only 2009 or so, then it was related to an upgrade of the software. I have never purged PM's, nor do I intend to. The forum software we used back then was not so great, however it was the best that was available at the time. The platform we're on today, blows them all away.
