Would you open a B&M

With 250k I would have better things to do with it. But a B&M needs to be treated like a real business, and just like many retail businesses it has 100% markup and needs to spend money on advertising and taxes. I Would def do it, but not as a primary business, I would rather have (and do have) a business that has higher margins.

If someone handed me $250K I would open a Take N Bake pizza place. Those places are gold mines, pizza has excellent markup, no overhead for ovens or delivery driver's insurance...

(I worked at several pizza places in high school and college)

The restaurant business is lucrative, but harder to launch then people thin. I have a very good friend that owns several McDonald's and they take about 400k to launch but bring in about 900k-2m depend on how well they do. Some up to 5M

As others have said, I'd do it if I had a large source of income already, but not as a primary source. With the market the way it is attempting to break in now would not go well.

Opening a chain store location is generally pretty profitable nowadays.

But on the other hand, I feel a traditional single-store B&M offers much more than a generic chain store in terms of service, quality, and other wonderful things that old mom and pop stores have to offer.

Im not saying they don't. It is a pure margins and dollar and cents equation.

Yep, sure would. But not with dreams of raking in the cash.

There's a small, absolutely Rockwellian little town about three hours from me, La Grange, Texas. Old fashioned courthouse square surrounded by shops and storefronts that haven't been all gentrified and cutesied up yet. There's actually a Rex-All Drug and a boot shop and a barber shop and a custom butcher!

La Grange is surrounded by other small towns, one of which hosts one of the biggest antiques fairs in the country twice a year: Round Top.

The area's beautiful. Lots of great back roads and popular with RUBs and HOG and such, but still very small town Americana.

I'd love to open a cigar shop on that courthouse square, with a smoking lounge upstairs, and just enjoy the peace and quiet.

Oh my gosh, La Grange, Texas !!

Does the Chicken Ranch ring any bells for ya :whistling: :whistling:

Hadn't thought about that place for 30 years
