Workshop Projects

This is our next project. Anything you would do differently?

So far I wouldn't do anything different.

I used 1/4" MDF for the panels, cut into 4 equal widths, my wall is 170" wide. My panels are about 42.5" wide and 72" tall. I used construction adhesive and nails to apply the MDF to the wall. The trim pieces are done the same way with construction adhesive and nails.

I was considering using 1/8" MDF, but the people at the molding place I go to said that 1/8" MDF would show imperfections in the wall a lot easier.

The LED strip I used is almost 1/4" wide, I adjusted the top trim piece up a touch so it created a raceway for the LED strip. The LED strip is wired to 3-way switches so it can be turned on and off from either side of the bed, and the transformer will be buried in the wall. I will take a picture of the raceway and add it to the above post.

This is the LED Strip I used.

The next step is to sand and fill all the holes and joints, then paint.

I'm also skimming the wall above the panels and going to do a metallic wallcovering that's a graphite color.
