Although I'm not interested in growing tobacco to roll my own, I have heard they make excellent ornamental plants. In your opinion, is this true? If so I may be interested.

Doc.

Tell us a bit about your crop. Smoked any yet? Any pictures?

Yes they make great additions to a flower garden. In the back of course these can reach 6-7 ft. high with the proper nutrients. they have really nice clusters of blooms and nice dark green leaves. Some of mine had 28 leaves per plant most had 16-20. I didn't take any pics of it in the field, however I'll try to post some of it curing in the barn.
It worked!!!!! Hey by the way, how about my helper holding the leaf he helped me from planting to harvest. He would go pull weeds and hoe without me even asking. It was such a big help because I had to have a total shoulder replacement this summer and was unable to work or even do much of anything for 19 weeks. He really stepped up to the plate to help out his old man and he just turned 12. Really makes a dad PROUD!

I see you're in southwest Ohio, would you like me to come down and kill the pesky deer to prevent crop damage? :D

I was going to grow my own last year and did not get them planted in time.

Will have to find my seeds and get ready for this season. I think it would be fun to have a cigar that you grew, cured and rolled yourself.

Things are crazy tonight but I have plenty of seeds and I'll try my best to get these in the mail in the next few days. Also I will try to answer all your questions about when, where, why, harvesting, curing, and fermenting.Just pm with your names and addresses.

Well I got up early checked my messages. Now It's time to get the seeds ready for the mail tomorrow. I've still got plenty of seeds (unless 3 or 4 want to grow 20 acres each Ha Ha) Just send full name and address. It's really enjoyable to sit outside in the evening with your favorite cigar and drink just watching your own tobacco grow.

This sounds like a fun project! I have a Koi pound in the backyard and they would make a nice addition to my perenials.

To all that requested seeds they are on the way. Everybody else it's not to late.

Oh wow! I'd definitely like some of each! My buddy has a giant garden and he's a cigar smoker. He'd be totally into this. How did I miss this thread!

My correct info is my profile. I'll definitely hit you back.

Great, I'm glad so many are interested in raising their own tobacco it is a very relaxing hobby. Depending how far you want to go you might end up with some nice cigars.

Hey Brian! Would love to trade for some if any left. My Father in lay will let me plant a row or 2 on his farm and dry it in his barn.

Most everybody's seeds have been mailed. I was really surprised with the response. So far 23 requests for seeds. That is awsome I still have plenty.

I will take this thread as kharma. Just for giggles I researched "growing tobacco" on the internet today. Now I must do it with an offer like this.

Thanks for sharing the (seed) wealth Brian. That is most proper.

Cheers,
Chris
