Who has a SodaStream?

Besides flowers, I gifted my wife for our two year anniversary a SodaStream. We love sparkling mineral water so I thought this will knock her socks off. (and it did.)
 
It's the newest model the "Revolution" from Amazon and I picked up a few extra bottles, and I'm really excited to use it and experiment as well.
 

 
Wanted to know if anyone on here has one, and might have some recipes to share for homemade syrups.

My wife and I got one from my parents for Christmas last year.  We LOVE it, we have already gone through 1 of the big c02 cartridges and 1 of the small ones.
 
I don't have any recipes for syrups, but I think that brass connector might be a good idea.

Yeah the sodamod will pay for itself in about a year, as I imagine we'll be using this thing a lot.
 
I really like how you can refill the c02 bottle for about $4 with this mod, whereas the exchange c02 cartridges cost $16 if you hand back the empty bottle.

These things really are the bees knees. I love mine. I hated all the glass recycling from the bottles of Gerolsteiner and Pellegrino I would buy... I think that Lost Abbey should invest in a few of these...

So we went through the 60L c02 bottle in a week, really need to buy the SodaMod before I get another bottle because at a bottle a week ($16), this could get ugly quick.

We love ours!
We make our own Ginger Ale, but the recipe is a lot simpler than the one in the link. Basically just fresh grated ginger simmered with water, sugar in the raw, and salt. I like lots of ginger to make it spicy.

One of my faves is to get Black Currant Ribena from the English section at the grocery and make my own carbonated cordial.

We bought ours about 6 years ago when it was still called Soda Club.

The Diet Coke tastes really similar to diet coke. 
 
They have an Italian soda that is awesome ! It is sweet and tart at the same time.

Got the SodaMod in the mail yesterday and it's a solid little piece of brass, very well done by the guys at Critical.

 
I also went to pick up my tank at a local paintball outlet that had a Google offer for a free C02 fill with purchase, so I was all set. (Even took along the birthday girl!)

 
Tried the thing and with a little adjustment at home using the 1.5mm hex key they provided, everything was perfect!
 
I would recommend this to anyone that has a SodaStream as I've done the math and it pays for itself.
 
We were went through 1 60L tank in a week so that's $16 per week x 4 weeks = $64mo or $768yr.
 
SodaMod was $70 and tank was $30 so $100 in materials.
 
Every fill will be $4 that we'll only need to do twice a month so $8 mo or $196 for the first year and $96 every year after.
 
Pocketing $672 a year was the selling point for me.

You must drink a lot of carbonated water.  I've had mine for nearly two years, and still on the original tank.

We go through about 4 1L bottles a day, and with our machine we always choose the #4 or max carbonation button and it will put in 4 shots of c02 into each 1L bottle.
 
So in the course of a day that's a lot of c02 used up.
 
2 years on the same tank? Set those bubbles free!

I too have one and love it.  When I find some recipies I shall pass them along.  But I do have some of the newer flavors I want to try for sure.  Enjoy it!

Man you all have the fancy ones! How hard is it to find a pace to refill the tank with the sodamod? Sorry to dredge an old thread but we just got one for xmas currently on tank #2. Need to get some more flavors though, as the "coke zero" one just isn't to my liking.

Pretty easy to refill, if you have a Dick's/Sports Authority nearby you they will fill it for less than $4.
 
Anywhere that can refill c02, will be able to git 'er done.

What about the discussion of the CO2 that's used for paintball guns containing atomized oil from the compressor, versus 'food grade' CO2...??  Is it BS...??

That's largely a rumor started by those that would want to scare you into purchasing "proprietary c02" as opposed to c02 from a reputable source. I've never heard of any atomization of oil/lubricant's being done as most of the time, industrial-grade CO2 comes from the same production plant as food or beverage-grade CO2.
 
When talking about purity ratings, it's the difference between 99.90% purity (food grade) and 99% purity (industrial grade) where the other .9% are "impurities" such as hydrogen or nitrogen in very small parts per million.
 
Now I love Stouts poured on Nitro at bars, so that is not an issue for me.
