Which do you prefer Padron 1926 or 1964?

Nice overview of the line Marito

Now where in NYC are the '26 maduro's? :D :sign:

Welcome Marito, fill out your profile a bit and jump right in....the smokin's fine :D

Even if money were no object, I personally prefer the taste of Cuban tobacco over the high end Padrons.

I gotta admit though, I smoke 'em every now and then for a change of pace and enjoy them very much.

Since money IS a factor that determines which cigars I smoke, no way can I afford a couple of 26's every day, that's worse than a drug habit :0

With respect to the Milleniums, I've only had a a few ( Moki) and I actually prefer the 26's over the Milleniums.

nice reviews, marito. (oh, and welcome!)
wow, sounds like a possible explanation for why 26's are so difficult to find...they're all in NYC, many in your collection...and for msrp?!
so, have you got an order in for the 40th anniversary humidor?? looking forward to reading reviews (and comparisons to the regular 26's) by the "experts" like yourself and moki.

I haven't had the pleasure of trying a millennium (and it doesn't look likely that I ever will), so I can only say that in comparing the ten 26's that I've burned through (two maduro sampler boxes) to the probably-less-than forty 64's (box of diplomaticos, a sampler box, and a few assorted singles) that I've smoked, the nod goes to the 26's for their robustness and spice, but not by a long shot.
I guess I could do a better comparison if I smoke two similary-sized cigars, one from each line in the same session. (i.e.- a No. 2 vs. an Exclusivo)

one of these days I need to break down and try some naturals from both the 26 & 64 lines. I've sorta just fallen for the hype (aka- general consensus), which rates the maduros significantly higher than the naturals.

I'll add that I find little to complain about (with price in mind) with the 5000 maduros. even if I could find 26's or 64's easily, smoking them on a regular basis would have me filing chapter 7 in no time!

Any one open for a trade?
I've never had a 1926 ???
The 1964 I had (thanks other1) was very good.
Reading this thread makes me very curious about the 1926

Bill

Welcome to CP Marito :)

I think actually a few of the stores in NYC have (or more acurately can obtain) boxes of 26 Maduros. Unfortunately, you need to build a relationship with them, and that of course means spending money. A friend or a friend used to work a tthe Davidoff on Madison, so he fed me my first box. Then after hanging at a few cigar smoking establishments (and there are very few here) I met others that have in turn introduced me to a few well-connected store owners. This has snowballed and I recieved my last box direct from Padron in Miami.

As for the 40th anni torp, I have 1 that Padron sent me to taste and I plan on smoking this weekend. I'll post a review directly thereafter.

I like them both. Just picked up some maduro 26's the other day. Can't remember the # but it's the torp. Got them for $16.

Marito is right though, you must establish a relationship with your local store. Mine had them and my buddy Wrenn who works there pulled them out and offered me the chance to buy a few. They take care of their regulars! They also let me know when the Opus come in and save some for me if I don't happen to come by.

Good topic! ;)

Never had either, but sned me one of each and I'll let you know what I prefered.

I really feel for the guys living in places with poor premium cigar coverage

Doesn't begin to describe living overseas, when the *only* store on the island has between 10-16 Cigars at any given time (if I'm lucky) and *no* premium domestics. The up side is taht Cubans are legal in Japan and, in fact, thats all my store sells. But that's it, no wider selection and they are all quite expensive (but what isn't expensive in Japan - $8 Beers, $10 McDonalds Meals, $15-30 per stick for stogies......)

Well there are always the rare and coveted TDYs to the US and great BOTLs on the board willing to trade and pass over the Pacific to me.

i fell in love with the anniversary serie real fast. im not really what you can call an "entreprenour" so these wont even be monthly smokes, let alone daily
