Hello,
I am an old guy turned newbie because I haven't been around CP for a while. Not only have I been away from CP, I smoked my first cigar in years last Thursday. ???
Years ago, I considered myself to be on the cutting edge of "cigars." How times have changed. I remember having a 150 quart coolerdor filled with hundreds of cigars, doing splits, 5'ers, passes, trades, bombs, etc. One divorce later, I'm trying to get back on my feet and also back into the good graces of CP.
Anyway, for the first time, I visited a local cigar store that recently opened. Keep in mind, I haven't visited any shops in several years.
I saw openly available for sale:
AF Sungrown
Padron Anniversary Maduro and Natty 1926 and 64
The funny shaped Hemmingway or Short Story - I don't know the difference
Between the lines
I didn't think about it until I had left, but I don't know if they had Opus X's.
5-10 years ago, the above cigars were not readily available. If available, they were kept out of public view and you had to be a regular customer and "know" someone to the allowed the opportunity to purchase them. I was really surprised to see the selection that was available to everyone. Maybe times have changed and the coveted cigars have changed.
Has the economy made these cigars more available? Are there other cigars that are "now" coveted? Has everyone lost the desire for the aforementioned cigars? What am I missing?
I asked the sales clerk (who isn't a cigar smoker) how they had such a great selection and she said, "we just order 'em and they come."
Maybe I'm behind the times... ya'll can let me know.
Thanks.
