Where should the next CP HERF be?

There are a whole lot more active CP members on the East coast than the West coast.

I say New York City area and if you don't like that then Atlantic City or the Connecticut casinos where at least you can still smoke cigars.

Did the Atlantic City Casinos outlaw cigar smoking? Are they under the NJ smoking ban?

I'm pretty sure the casinos are exempt from it the NJ smoking ban.

I doubt if the Ct. cassinos will ever Vountarily ban tobacco smoking. It's owned by Native Americans. It's sacred to them ; a gift from Mother Earth.

They've banned it in certain parts of the casinos. For instance The Dubliner, an Irish style pub used to allow smoking up to a year and a half ago but they made it smoke free.

How about Binghamton... used to be the Cigar Capital next to Florida....

Only a 3 hour drive from NYC.... and we have an airport

Vegas is always a good choice. For the East Coast, I'd go with Ybor City or Atlantic City.

Places I try to stay away from: NYC, Chicago, L.A., anywhere in Alabama :whistling:

My votes are Ybor City and Chicago

Ybor - Great cigar roots. Would be a great place to hang out for a few days.

Chicago - Tons to do here. Shopping on Michigan Ave., Sears tower, Cubs and Sox games, fine steakhouses, etc.

Since the first CP HERF was on the West Coast I agree with this idea -- next one should be on the East Coast. Even some Canadians MIGHT be able to come down :)

I'd like to keep the official annual herf in one central location. I've been thinking about this for the past few weeks, and I still believe Las Vegas is the premier location for the CP Herf. Here are a few reasons why:

1.) Airfare is reasonable from most parts of the country.

2.) There are more choices in lodging than any other city can offer, and if you book early you can't beat the prices.

3.) Non-stop entertainment. We also have to think about guys bringing their wives and family. There is something for everyone in Vegas. After all, Las Vegas is the entertainment capital of the world.

4.) Smoker friendly.

5.) Many great places to eat, drink and smoke.

6.) Much of the entertainment is centrally located along the strip. When we were in Vegas, we started out at the Harley Davidson Cafe and walked over to Casa Fuente. 10 minute walk, no driving necessary.

7.) There is free shuttle service up and down the strip, depending on what hotel you stay at. There is now a monorail system which is quite reasonably priced as well.

During the last herf, I received very positive feedback regarding hosting the event in Vegas. Reason being, the rates were fair all around.

This time the herf will be planned a bit differently. There will be a planning committee, in which will plan the activities. Next year we should have 3 days worth of events, with the 3rd day being the "main event". We will also secure a location for the herf ASAP. We should also be able to acquire multiple room discounts. I'd like to keep the herf in either May or June. Best rates can be had in May typically. It will not be planned during a holiday weekend next year.

Chicago, NY, FL all sound great, however I really do want to consider the factors above.

I would very much like to have at least 1 regional herf per year. Let's say every October we have a regional herf, and it could be anywhere. And then in May we have the Annual CP Herf in Vegas. I think this is fair.

To say there are more east coast guys than west coast really isn't relevant. If someone wants to join the herf, they most definitely will. This was proven last month. We had several members from back east come out to Vegas for the herf, and from what I heard, they were all very pleased.

So again, I propose we have a regional herf once a year, and again it can be anywhere. We should narrow it down to 4 locations and have the membership vote on it. If it's in Chicago, the Chicago guys would be asked to help organize the event. If it's in NY, the NY guys would be asked to help organize the event, and so on... Then the Annual CP Herf will be in Vegas, in which I will organize the event along with a committee of volunteers.

This is really the only way I can accommodate everyone’s request, and I think it’s very fair. I would be very interested in traveling back east for a regional herf, as I’m sure it would be a lot of fun.

Well, if Ybor City's out, Vegas is definitely my second choice.

You really can't go wrong with Las Vegas. Flights and hotels can be had at modest cost compared to places like NYC, Chicago and Seattle. Plus, you can smoke cigars just about everywhere.

Maybe a certain BOTL can hook us up with enough rooms at the Polo Towers again? You can't beat the $17.50 per night price that we paid on the last trip. ;)

I think Ybor City would be a fun regional herf. I'd be down for that.
