Alright ya'll,
I figured this would be a neat one to start.

I was 19 years old (yes I am only 21) and working at a bar in Birmingham, Alabama. We had an older guy come in every night named Mr. Martin. This guy was awesome. He'd get lit, and go outside the bar, pee in our flowers, and drive home. Well, he'd always bring in three cigars (I could never understand why, until just now :) ) Anyways, he'd smoke two and start the thrid on the way out. Well, he gave me one during an afternoon off, and I smoked it. It was an El Producto. I thought my life had just begun. Later I moved up to a Hoyo and so forth and so on. I've never smoked anything (and I mean EVERYTHING you can count) but cigars. If not for that man, I'd be working on my second heart attack. But the heart attack is another story.

Some 35 years ago my bride and I moved to Fort Lauderdale for greener pastures. Along the way I developed a friendship with a Cuban/American businessman. From time to time we would lunch together at a local Cuban restaurant and finish it off with a Padron and cup of cuban coffee. I became hooked then and there. He since passed away, but I still go to the same restaurant every so often get my coffee, pick up a Padron, and think of him. By the way now I can't smoke in the restaurant and linger over the cigar like we used to. Against the stupid ass law.

My parents would go to Cuba to visit family and I asked them to bring me back some cigars. My dad bought a box of Montecristo no.4's. The first times I smoked, the cigars were Cubans. The hobby didn't stick until I had a Padron while playing in a Golf Tournament. After that I bought my first humi, blah blah blah.

Not bad stories at all guys, keep them coming.

I had just broken up with a long time girlfriend, just happened to be walking by a Tinder Box and decided my first cigar would be a great way to celebrate. Big mistake :D

My first cigar (not counting those silly tipped cigars you can get at walgreens) was given to me by my oldest brother. My Mom died in August of 2002 and after the funeral me and my 4 brothers and wives kids etc went to our Dads house. We shared stories (being that 2 live out of state, we dont get together too often) and food. My brother brought everyone a AF cigar (he had a cedar wrapped bugger that was at least a churchell size) and I got the bug.

I have no idea, it was too long ago to remember. It was sometime in high school when we bought gas station cigars. My father used to smoke Munniemakers but quit when I was 12. I bought some of those when I was 16........

I guess it was around the time I was 14 I had my first cigar. We'd go out at night and go "garaging" seeing what people had in thier garage fridges. For some reason having a fridge in the garage was really popular in my area in the 60's. Anyway, we'd swipe a 6 pack or bottle of wine, never took it all because it would be noticed. One of the places had a box of White Owls in the fridge and we all took one to smoke. I do remember tossing my cookies but that must have been the beer...........yeah the beer.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Firts time I smoked a Cigar was when I got my first apartment in college and wanted to quit cigarettes. It worked and I have not touched cigaretts since, just can't stand them.

Much like Kayakin Boy I'd never touched anything that could be smoked.... and am actually allergic to Cigarettes (have been all my life) so I'd never even considered smoking anything. I'd even inherited to Estate Pipes when my father passed away in 1999 (1 a gimmick pipe from the 50s shaped like a "John Wayne Western six shooter" and another from the 30s).

Anywho...about 1.5 years ago, I was TDY to Korea (kinda like now) when after dinner one of my best friends on Okinawa (C-130 Flight Engineer), Rich, was called downstairs and told he had just made Master Sergeant (E-7). He wakjed across the street and came back with an assortment of Havana's and started passing them out while we all went to the Gold Star and started drinking, playing pool, etc. (3 promotees that trip, Rich got the stogies, the other two bought drinks all night.) So my first cigar was a RyJ Belicoso. I was hesitant at first, worried it would set off my allergies (found out later that cigarette allergies are because of the formeldahyde, not the tobacco) but toroughly enjoyed it down to the nub. Rich and I chatted about cigars all night and that was when I learned he has 4 humis and over 1000 cigars. Next work day on Okinawa (a week later after we re-deployed) I came in to find a 25 cigar humidor (filled) on my desk. He's never let me pay him back, but I funnel him stuff I get from y'all. I'm proud to say I gave him his first Opus and Ashton, thanks to Moki.

My first cigar was about 10 years ago at my friends wedding. I hated cigs so I never smoked anything but weed from time to time. I don't remember what brand it was but it was very good. All I knew about it was that it was a cuban and it was very good. After that I started and never stopped. Well, I don't smoke weed any more, my friend is divorced but I still smoke cigars.

Well...let me think to way back when I was 9 years old. My dad had a box of dry cigars sitting on the counter of our bar. One day, I decided to light one up and began smoking it outside on the side of the house where no one could see. Puffing away for about 5 minutes, I turn around and BUSTED! My dad came home from work early that day. Needless to say, I never touched a cigar until recently when I began to truely appreciate what a good cigar can do for you.

When I was 17 or 18, my firends all smoked cigarettes. I didn't, but occassionally had a Swisher Sw... oh, you mean my first REAL cigar? Oh well, that's a different story.

Hadn't smoked anything for about 20 years (including SSs and weed) when some buddies and I began playing regular poker games about 9 months ago. One of the guys I play with -- his Father-in-law is a Senator and went on a trip to Cuba about that time. Thanks to him, my first real cigar was a Partagas De Luxe. Didn't care too much for it at the time. My tastes have developed since.

To celebrate high school graduation I went to a cigar store near my house with my best friend and using a little graduation $$ bought a zippo and two dominican cohibas.

And it was good.

on a side note, am still trying to convert him to just cigars [and no cigarettes]

Back in 1999, I was about to graduate from a Junior College in Texas, and was looking for a job in either Dallas or San Antonio. While planning my trip, I mentioned to a girl that I was crazy about that she should go with me to these interviews, thinking that she never would. She said yes.

We went to Dallas, saw a Rangers game, and I had a great interview there. We went on to San Antonio, and while we were there, we went to the Hemisfair Tower. We walked up to it, only to realize that it was closed for the night. There happened to be a guy there smoking a cigar, and I mentioned to my girlfriend, my date, I mean, that I would like a cigar.

The next day, we were at the mall on the Riverwalk, and we found the Latin Gold Cigar Factory, where they were rolling cigars and had them for sell. I was completely amazed by the cigar world, and bought a few after the interview. The girl even liked them, which was cool, because although we are not together now, I have a feeling that someday we will wind up together.

When I got back home, I found a local cigar shop, and the guys there were great. They could have seen a 20 year old with no clue and gouged me with only high-end cigars that I might not have liked, but the guy there didn't. He picked out 5-6 different cigars, different wraps, sizes, etc. He started me out with a cheapie cutter and a cheap lighter, and told me not to rush into anything right away. Again, a sign of a good guy.

Although I am not home anymore, I stopped by that cigar shop the last time I was home, back in Jan of this year, and it had been a few years since I had been back. The same guy was working there, and after just a minute, he remembered alot about me, and we had a few good cigars over the week. My grandmother was sick, and the cigar shop was my get-away, which was definately needed.

That shop, the Latin Gold cigar shop, and San Antonio will always have a very special place in my heart, and will always fill the void that cigars has left in my wallet!!!

It twas the night before christmas... opps, wrong story.

I was down in Hawaii 6 months ago and told my brother in-law to go get some cigars to celebrate their new baby boy. He brought back a Vanilla Macadamia Nut flavored cigar. It was pretty damn good for a flavored. It was from there, i found this site... and the rest was magic.

It was about three years ago, a good friend of mine was getting married and we were getting ready for the bachelor party. I'm not sure why, but I decided it would be fun to buy everyody that was going to be at the party a smoke. The best man and I stopped by one of the local Big Smokes and we headed into the humidor. After about 30 seconds we realized we had no idea what we were doing, so we told the lady behind the counter what we were up to. She recomended a of Churchill second, they were around $2 a stick, but a hit with everybody that tried them.

It took me a while after that to get into it, but everytime I light up, I'm glad I have.

I ws playing golf about 5 or 6 years ago and my buddy suggested we buy a couple of cigars for he round of 18. I had just quit smoking cigarettes that year and was reluctant at first, but decided I could handle it and went ahead and bought a couple. I remember one of them was a Hoyo Excalibur and the other was a yellow band Bahia or something like that....

Have been enjoying them since.......

I smoked a Boli habana today while putting up these..... :D

I figure it goes well with the festive skin.... :D

I was about 14 and stole one of my dads Garcia Vega Candellas and snuck off behind the garage. I did'nt know the first thing about smoking cigars so I inhaled all the smoke. I had smoked about half of it when I turned as green as the wrapper and became pretty sick. I did not touch a cigar for several years after that until my sister got married and I gave them a try again. This time though I upgraded the smoke and have been smoking ever since.
