I have been buying samplers, 5-packs, and singles now for about a year. I've tried all kinds of smokes and am looking for some direction on where to go to expand my horizons as they say.

Here's what I have really liked:

AF 858, Onyx Reserve, Astral TVS, IT Super Fuerte Maduro, Torano Exodus Silver, RP Vin. '92, IT Classic Tomahawk, Excalibur 1066 Merlin, Padron #2000, Punch Pita, Perdomo2 Cammie (red label) CAO Criollo, and RyJ 1875s.

Here's what I have really not liked:

Montecristo Serie V, Any Candela, Orosi (not sure what this was, got it in my first sampler) CAO L’Anniversaire Cammie Corona, Dos Rios (made by Padron, I think).

There's a few in the middle that I could take or leave, but these are what really stuck out.

What's next? I like the fuller flavors at times, but I don't mind a bit milder at others. I don't need a lot of "interst" but I don't care to be bored by the half way point either. It is cold here in the winter, so short smokes are good as I go to my now unheated garage to enjoy my hobby.

Suggestions? Comments?

:)

Hmmmm....

Yours seems a tough case to me, but I think I'll recomend-

AVO regular line
Ashton cabinet
AF Hemingway short story

...strange how they all start with "A" huh?

I do enjoy the Fuente product (and Padrons for that matter.)

As far as the Havanas, I'd love to try some, and plan on it in the future. Right now I don't really have the resources or any knowledge to keep me from getting crap. I'm planning my research, however.

Thanks for the suggestions.

That is strange. . .

I've been trying to get my hands on a Short Story for weeks without success. The locals NEVER have them (or much anything, really) and the places I've ordered from online are always out of stock. My timing has just been for poo in that regard.

Any particular vitola in the AVO and Ashton Cabinet lines?

Torano Exodus 1959(gold), Virtuoso.

Por Larranga from Honduras I believe.

Ashton Aged Maduro # 50

How about...

Oliva O Bold
Oliva Master Blends
Fonseca Matasa
Aurora 1495
La Gloria Cubaba Reserve Figurado
Rocky Patel SunGrown

Jim

Try going cheap...Consuegra or Padron Fumas. And get a heater for that garage. :D

Hoyo de Monterrey Dark Sumatra
Camacho Corojo, Diploma
Rocky Patel Sungrown
Padron Anniversario
Cuban Bullet
Cuban Parejo
Fuente Cuban Belicoso
Punch Rare Corojo

Thanks for all the suggestions guys!

(feverishly scribbling notes)

Padron Annivarsary smokes; 64 / 26's in maduro. Wow.....

Regards - B.B.S.

Oh, one more for good measure:

Sancho Panza Double Maduro (Quixote, especially) I love these cheapies. They're not Padrons, but not bad for $2-3 per stick.

Yeah, I've been meaning to try one of these, but I can't find any in 5ers or singles and I just can't buy a box without trying one. Who knows I may end up being the single person in the world who doesn't like these.

I've heard the #35s are the size to try. Is that the consensus?

Thanks again!

I just got one of these in a sampler a couple of months ago. I may have to hit that one next.

Thanks!

Try the Montecristo Afriques. They are excellent medium to full bodied cigars. I myself find them in between on the mild/full side.

Another cigar that I recommend is the La Aroma De Cuba. This particular cigar is a full bodied cigar and it has a nutty and leathery flavor and taste to it.

Maybe try some of the Hondurans for a fullish body smoke. Anything (almost) from Camacho (esp. liberty series), or maybe a Punch Gran Cru. Others maybe to try (not Honduran): Italia (cao), TTT Trinidad, The Griffin's, and mabye a Te-Amo (Mexican) or two. My dad brought back some from his trip to Cancun a few months ago, and they were pretty tasty.

Oh yeah, almost forgot, La Gloria Cubana Reserva Figurados (n or m) are nice medium - full smokes. Really smooth, full flavor smokes.

After proofreading that, I'm gonna have to go buy some sticks today :/.

Keep an eye out in the Vendor Hot Cigar Deals forum here. Ian Hannah of Billboard Tobacco (CP handle tobaccoleaf1) posts Padron Anni and Serie 1926 specials with some regularity. You just missed a good one but I'm sure he'll have more.

Any of the Annis are good. I'm partial to the Monarcas, Diplomaticos and Torpedos in maduro. Start with these before you get into the 1926, primarily because of price. But once into the 1926, try the #35, #2 and #6 in maduro, #9 in natural.

Best of luck to you!

Oh and after you have broken the bank and need a box of good "cheap" cigars to hold you over...

Give the 5vegas 'A' a try, at 3 bucks a stick they really cant be beat.
