What Whiskey, Rum or Cognac are you drinking today.

What did you think? I'm very intrigued by the Barrell Whiskey's, though I've not purchased one. I've only sampled a few.

Very interesting pour. The nose is fantastic and flavors are good also I am still trying to figure out the best way to drink this (dilute or not dilute ) snifter glass does not work due to high proof But if you pour over ice in rocks glass nose is subdued and flavors diminished also.
will try a few drops of water next to see if that will open it up

I haven't tried these which is why I haven't bought any. The price point seems high for something I don't hear many people talk about.

Thanks very much for letting us know your tasting notes. Next time my wife isn't paying attention I may pull the trigger on one of these. I don't like the super high proof stuff so maybe I'll find a local guy to split it with :)

High proof is an interesting game to play. It's a give and take. The higher the proof, generally the more flavor there is....simply because it hasn't been proofed (watered) down. However, you start to deal with some sharper notes and ethanol type issues that get in the way....not to mention the Kentucky Hug that often follows.

I love high proof though, I just feel like it's generally so much more flavorful.....in reputable bottles. Stagg Jr and Elijah Craig Barrel Proof come to mind, both coming in at around 130. Super high proof, but damnit those are fine bourbons.

My general experience on the high proofs is if it's not going well neat, then grab a Glencairn and toss in one bullet sized cube....swirl that bad boy and give it a go.

It’s supposedly $90 a bottle MSRP. I got it as a part of the Flaviar subscription so was a no brainer. I have to experiment some more with it though. As for now it’s almost impossible to beat stagg jr for a high proof at $90

Stagg jr has been next to impossible to find for me. Unless I want to spend $150 a bottle secondary. However the Elijah Craig c920 barrel proof and the larceny bp are both amazing.

just picked these up and I’m really excited to try them.9E010CEF-3DD7-413E-8B46-F59C05D1A01C.jpeg

You're not going to believe the proof on that uncut after you try it. I got a case after my first pour.

I might have to open it tonight after all. I’ve been trying to not open anything new since I have about 15 bottles already opened. Guess they need to be opened eventually anyways.

I love the full proof 1792. Have that and the bib. Trying to find a sweet wheat and 12 year now

Passed on this. Never seen it before but their other stuff was overpriced. Anyone tried it??? Good for $80??6FE015E6-29A8-499E-89A1-09666BC7D808.jpeg
