What was your first smoke?

My buddies dad gave me a swisher when I was about 16 and then smoked up some grenadeirs (sp. **** it i dont care anyway) I do recall buying some h. upmanns and macunudo Portofino's.

first was a hav-a-tampa wood tip ,drug store cigar to keep the 'skeeters away while fishing on the pond.
my first "premium" cigar was this past january at my bachelor party, where my father-in-law hit me with a punch habano after we did 5 shots of some stuff i can;t remember :whistling:

My first, other than something stolen from my buddy's father during high school, was as RyJ Vintage. My neighbor gave it to me. We soon ordered a Thompson sampler :0 and a premium sampler from them. Three years later I am still enjoying cigars, but not Thompsons. Although I had a Belmondo Chrchill maduro while cleaning up the yard last fall from that first sampler that I did enjoy.

I'm not sure to what brand. When I was about 14 years old my father had some thats a boy, and thats a girl cigars in the junk drawer. From when his friends had kids, and passed out smokes. I fired her up it was terrible. Years old, dry, and horrible. Felt like I rolled some dried marsh grass in the sunday news paper. Live and let learn.

My first "real" cigar was a Cohiba "Red Dot" Pequino at a buddy's house about a year ago. Over the years, there have been random Macanudo's, Hav-A-Tampa's (wood tip), etc. but nothing that really piqued my interest.

So, I stop by for a Friday PM whisky on the way home from work last summer, and he says "...want a cigar?..." and I answer, "..no, thanks..." but when he opened his humi, I remember thinking how good the cigars smelled. "OK,.." I tell him; "...something not too big.." so he hands me this little Cohiba and we head to his deck with a M.Mark in one hand and the little Cohiba in the other. I fired it up and remember thinking; "...wow! This little cigar is really good! Goes good with a drink; wouldn't mind having a few of these...".

Two humidors and a 30 Qt cooler later, the rest is history.....

Cheers - B.B.S.

I smoked (red appples) for about three years, Then decided to quite Personal choice. First cigar was a opux x, Some vender came down to work with some and we had one. I loved it and was hooked Been smoking on and off for three years just cigars. :D

First cigars were in college, Backwoods.

First cigar I ever remember seeing smoked. I was about 4 or 5, sitting in the back seat with my father driving, I was fighting w/sister and seeing my dad smoking a cigar while mom rolled the window down. I even remember the freakin song that was playing, Two Tickets To Paradise, Eddy Money. :whistling:

Good friend of mine's father-in-law is a Senator who went to an ISOM 2 years ago and brought back some goodies. As a result, my first cigar was a Partagas De Luxe. Didn't really care for it, but it got me started smoking cigars.

In '92 while on vacation in the beautiful ilands of Hawaii, Swisher Sweets...ugh, what did I know.

C&R :(

Corps Diplomatique, I believe they were called Senators. Damn fine cigar for the money. Interspersed these with Villiger Exports. Ifn' I had a little extra cash I'd splurge on C. Upmanns (yes, C Upmanns, not H Upmanns).

My first was a Monte #4, in Madrid, on the roof of the hotel. Sometime in 2003. Loved it, and I still smoke them when I can get my hands on them.

It was an AF 898 I think it was, last year at a Jimmy Buffett concert outside of DC...one of my friends had some, and I had never smoked before, but I had never been to a Buffett concert either...so I said what the heck...afterwards I found out I had (randomly) picked his most expensive smoke :0 , but it was a great way to start and many cigars have since changed hands between us.

Hehehe.. the typical Swisher Sweet, given to me by a good buddy while on a fishing trip. Told me they would keep the 'legendary' Alaskan Mosquitos away. Which they did, after i refused many times! He told me I HAD to, as more smoke was better...

then on a trip to Spain 7 years ago with my wife's ENTIRE family, one of her step-brothers-in-law smoked cigars and he and I went off looking for some Spanish Brandy (yummm....) and the store had cigars. He too talked me into one, which was a Montero Galanes(sp?) Came in a plastic tube, and was not expensive- but it was very nice! So I bought a couple of boxes, brought them back and shared them with my fishing buddy- he liked them so much he still smokes them today! Went thru hell trying to get them... even called the Spansih consulate and numerous places online!

And I've been ruined ever since...

Ever? I'm ashamed to say a Swischer Sweet (in high school). My first real cigar was a RyJ in España with my brother (summer after high school).

Romeo y Julieta Nazareth (made for the beverly hills shop Nazareth's). To this day one of my fav smokes when I decide to go through the hassle and (have the extra cash) to buy a box($250). Awesome sticks!!! Definately try them if u get a chance. :)

Hey...I just bought a RyJ Nazareth! I haven't smoked it yet...but was told it is very good  .
About the first smoke? Various Swisher's in high school. But 2 years ago on my honeymoon in Maui...grabbed a Volcano Cigar Co. Chocolate/Macadamia cigar and smoked it with my wife while drinking a bottle of Charles Shaw Cab. Ohh the simpler times of cheap smokes and cheap wine. Now it's Padron's and Opus X's and expensive bourbon. Damn...it hurts my wallet!

First ever was a small vanilla stick given to me in the DR by the locals who setup shop at the resort. Let me try one to see if I want to buy one.

First real (so I thought) cigar, DR yellow label. Kept buying singles from my local smoke shop. Finally wised up, let me friends smoke the rest that I had in my humi.

Buddy stopped by the other day for a smoke, was checking out the humi...got excited when he saw my cohibas in there, asked if that's what we used to smoke...I just sort of chuckled and said not even close!!!
