Guess you missed that whole "common parlance" thing. The Continents in this hemisphere are North America and South America (Continents not Countries) and our beloved nation is the United States. Fully - United States **of** America (of being a preposition refering to a portion or part)coventrycat86 said:America is a Continent not a Country
"America" is not a continent. Where'd you learn that ???
However, US English being the living language that it is, a common usage can become a standard phrase whether it is correct or not. Alas, this does not mean that other nations use nor recognize the same jargon, especially when English is not their native tongue.
All this is for naught, though. I was meerly trying to bring humor to the fact that you were attemting to correct (and/or besmirk) a perfectly valid sentance.
As far as my "surpise".... typos happen - especially to one who is a certified dyslexic. I'm sorry if in my attempt to correct my errors I missed one and offended thine eyes and sensibilities. No one is perfect, or as the Koreans say:
Wonsungi do namu-ae dorochinda.
(Even a monkey can fall from the tree.)
