TBT - So we were at a private event where Leona Williams, if you don't recognize the name, she was Merle Haggards ex-wife and co-wrote a few of his songs and other songs for artist like Loretta Lynn, ect. I digress.... Anyways her and a few other musicians had gotten together to just play around a bit and have some fun, it was someone's birthday if I recall correctly, it was a very informal event. So, after a few different people had played, Leona gets up to the mic while other musicians are taking their places. We all thought she is about to start playing or singing something, when.... She said we have another inspiring singer/songwriter here tonight and I want to hear her play a few songs. Jazz about died right there in her seat, turns out that my F-I-L had been speaking with Leona early that evening and bragging on his granddaughter, LOL. Keep in mind Jazz was only 13 at the time and had only played a handful of times in front of anyone other than her mom and myself at that point. She had never played with a band, and this wasn't even her band and they had no idea what she was going to play, so I am sure it was like "Oh Shit" for them as well. The band thought we are about to play some honky-tonk tunes with Leona and now this 13yo girl is going to play god knows what, LOL. Anyways Jazz finally conceded after the crowd cheering her on. Here was one of the 3-4 songs she did.
