What smoking music are you listening to? (2024)

I'd have to say Lola ... pretty risqué for its time.
DING DING DING!

We have a winner. Your google-fu is strong today.

Lola, a song about a transgender who walks like a woman but talks like a man and a young male club goer. How it even got on the air is a mystery but if you have the original PYE single where they sang Coca-cola before Coke sued them it's worth a few bucks.

Pat cut this from all her live performances. She did not write the song and her interpretation was it promoted violence against women. WTFE. I love the guitar personally.
Before she hit it big in '79 this was her first single at age 21 in 1974. BTW Benetar is her first husbands last name she was born Pat Andrzejewski; - I had to look up how to spell that.

Kathy's fondness not with standing, Olds 455 engines suffered from small oil return holes which would cause the hydraulic lifters to collapse causing the valves not to open as much and close too soon. Of the GM 450 cuin engines it was #3 above the Buick which had a spindly and weak bottom end but below the Pontiac which had a massive crank that limited RPM but great heads, good enough that Chevy copied them for their small block engines. The 454 was the factory stock king of the hill.
