What pets do you have?

She came home yesterday and is doing alright. Thanks for checking on her. Of all the "WTF?!?" stuff I've seen her pass out of her butt over the years, it ended up being a regular old cotton sock that blocked her up. Vet said it was starting to tear her intestine wall, so there wasn't much longer at all before things turned much, much worse -- probably irreparable.
Glad she's doing well! 😊

I've heard of that happening. The cotton attaches to the lining of the intestine and then destroys it, for some reason.

Glad to hear she got it out before it got worse!

Anyone have Guinea Pigs? My wife wants to get a pair for our toddler. I think it’s a terrible idea. Pros - Cons? We have zero pets at present.

I have never had one but saw this the other day.

For a toddler? Welllllllll... Guinea pigs are work. They take a lot more attention than you would think, and you have to get at least two. Unless they are raised together, females tend not to get along, so you need to put a bull in there with them to keep them in line (srsly). Now you have three. You need to make sure that either the male or both of the females are fixed, or you will soon have more than three (ask me how I know). Also, verify that none of your females are preggers before bringing them home, or you will have a surprise on your hands one morning when you find out your pigs have shrunk. They eat a lot, and you'll find yourself preparing vegetables day and night. And, the poop. My God, the poop. You need a strong mini-vac to keep up with their butts daily. Like @H. Vachon, they have no internal sphincter, so the poop just literally falls out of them as they scurry around. Shop Vac works better, but you chance sucking up a furry potato if you aren't careful.

They are great little pets, but do require a lot of attention that most are unaware of before they commit themselves (or someone else).

Thank you! This is very helpful. My wife thinks our three year old would love them and I’m sure she would but it would be US taking care of them so this is much appreciated. There are a pair of one year old males at the local shelter and my wonderful wife is so soft hearted when it comes to our animal friends.

Breed guinea pigs and sell them Craig. Then buy more cigars/booze! I mean, it's a win-win situation.
