What do you think of...

I've smoked quite a few of the Brevas and Cremas...I like them. However, they are what they are, a straight forward, rustic smoke. There is no finesse, just Cuban tobacco flavor. Lot's of it too. I prefer these over the Quinteros that I have smoked.

I have Quinteros and JL Piedras in my humi. Like others have said, good smoke for the price.

I like them both. I'm 99% sure that both of these are hand made, short filler according to some HabanosSA literature I have.

I like the JLP, good tasting and cheap. I bought a box about 3 or 4 months ago and they are already better than they were when they arrived. I'll order them again. 25 cazadors fill a A.F. Hem. Signature box like it was made for them.

Well my wife just called, my "Can 'O Cubans" has arrived...

I'll be sure to take some pics and fire one up when I get home.

Only 4 hours to go :p

Well here we go...

The can, unfortunately the ugly "smoking can kill you" warning is not a sticker but part of the can label itself, I'll think of something to cover it up however.

Now the back of the can is very interesting, especially the last paragraph written in German.

"All six formats of the Jóse L. Piedra are made in the traditional "Totally by Hand" "Triple Cap" process out of completely made ready by hand short filler."
Proving what CC said above :)

Now onto the beef...

Now I have to say the aroma was quite over-powering "FRESH" when I popped the lid. And the odor did not lie. I pulled one of these sticks out and it was as if the roller had just handed it to me... I could squeeze the cigar all the way shut in the middle with no fear of damaging the wrapper. Out on the balcony I fired it up and encountered the taste of young fresh Cuban tobacco, STRONG Cuban tobacco. However it burned well with a good draw and straight dark gray and black ash.

Was it a good cigar fresh? I would have to say yes. Will I let them sit for a while before smoking another? You bet. I'm 100% sure these will get better each day they sit in my humidor.

Worth the 50 bucks? HELL YEAH!

Oh and for you wondering what all the crap is lol... just cigar related odds and ends I'm planning on putting in the now empty can. The syringes are for putting water into my beads. The rest is just empty boxes, cigar matches, and cutters and other things of that nature.

Thanks for the great info Wurm. Pictures always make it even more enjoyable. These are going on my acquisition list, you had me at can. Can't wait for another cigar related storage device I probably won't use, to add to the collection. How long do you think they will sit before trying a second?

lol I'm smoking it now :-P

I am not normally a cuban fan some of the super premiums are good . Shawn gave me a couple of these and I think I will order a can good every day smoke.

I'm not a fan. There are way too many great cigars out there to spend time and money on the JPs.

 :)

I tend to agree with you, however, it's all subjective and for the money they are a good bargain, that is, if you like 'em. They don't do much for me anymore but I used to like them.
