Hi all,

Please let me know if you have any experience with this?

I understand the general consensus is to get a Aristocrat or other high end humidor. But I cannot spend $1k+ on such a system and could appreciate (a) the additional space of this unit (b) the cooling capabilities during this upcoming summer.

Please let me know what you think. Thanks guys.
 
$400 for a "Holds up to 400 plus cigars" (which is self contradictory) seems a little costly. I have no experience with winedors so I can't comment on reliability. It just seems small for the price.

If you run into situations where the temp in the house (I assume that's where it will be) routinely stays above 80 degrees F then a cooling unit is probably a good idea. I think it looks great. Personally I have long term aging cigars in the basement at a consistent temp so no need for the cooling unit.
 
My experience with thermoelectric units is that if your house is warm, above 80 degrees then they are not that effective in lowering the temperature. I've had to toss wine because I have a thermoelectric unit in a storage unit which couldn't keep the temp low enough. Unfortunately I didn't realize this until it was too late.
 
It seems a tad small for the price---you can get nearly another full cubic foot of space in a wine fridge for half the price or less---so you might want to compare that price point with fridge + shelves + conversion kit.

Suggest you look at http://wineadors.com/newair.html, and the NewAir 281. Several of us here have that unit. Runs well. I'm in Texas and never an issue with heat. Forrest does top shelf work, but you may wait a bit longer.

Not sure of the correct "who", but either Madmonk or Mobig has two of these units. Worth another opinion maybe.

Listen to Pugman. I bought my own New Air then saved a little more money and bought the shelves from forest. Worth every penny!
 
That (your link) looks quite overpriced. I bought a "Vinotemp" (looks just like what you linked to) which quickly died but I still use it in my basement where the temps are consistent and it provides a great seal to keep in RH. They can be had for a lot less than $400.
 
Looking to get a new air wine cooler in the next couple of weeks. Who is forest? Sorry but I'm new here.

Lol. Nevermind he's from wineador! Been looking at them for a while. That's probably where I'm getting my drawers and shelves.

What part of Texas are you from. I've heard good and bad things about the TE controlled units (more good than bad).

I'm in Cypress (nw of Houston) and looking for good feedback on these.
