What Did You Forget on Thanksgiving?

First off, I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving full of family, good friends, great food, mixed in with a few of your favorite cocktails...and topped off of course with a good cigar!

It seems to be a tradition in my family, handed down a few generations I'm told, that we always seem to forget to serve some sort of food or drink that we made or planned on...and this year I hit the trifecta.

1) During the hors d'oeuvres part of the day, I forgot the pigs-in-a-blanket....the ones that I hand rolled for almost an hour at 2am.

2) For dinner, I forgot to serve the cranberry, pineapple, walnut mold I had made the day before while talking to Clint...he cursed it!...that's why no one liked HIS smoked turkey!

3) As for dessert, I forgot the cream puffs that I get locally and are a taste from Heaven itself!...this one I don't feel so bad about, more for me now.

And for the forth one to round out the parlay, I had bought an after dinner wine that I wanted to open to kick off the Christmas season..it has some mix of grapes, cranberries, and blueberries. Forgetaboutit...still chilling in the cooler.

Make no mistake, it's not like we went hungry and missed the stuff...I think it's because we make too much food that we can't help but forget something!

How about you guys...did anyone forget anything?

ETA: I probably should put some of the blame on the new bottle of Highland Park 18yo I opened up to celebrate the day. Man, I really like that stuff!

Well we forgot one for two things too but it was only the second year of my family and the Fiance's family getting together so there were 26 people there. Which it was actually really a great time we are both very lucky that our family's get along fantastically. Hell my dad ended up taking to all the guys about guns for 2 hours and they were impressed with him and that he shot Match Competition. But I'm very blessed to have the inlaws I have. In fact now that I got a heater I'm going to have my future father in-law over for a drink and a cigar tonight. But here is what i forgot:

1. Artichoke dip. This is a big tradition in my side of the family any everyone absolutely loves it. I was so wrapped up getting the puppy in the car i forgot it on the stove and believe me everyone noticed lol.

2. The Fiance had a couple extra bottles of wine that she forgot that would have came in handy. Luckily everyone felt the need to bring at-least a 6pack of beer lol. Gotta love WI.

Ha!  Sorry Gary.

I didn't forget anything, but I thought I had ruined both turkeys.  They turned out pretty good though.  I still had more turkey left over than blue/bacon dip though.

I usually deep fry a chicken and leave it on the counter before the turkey comes off the smoker. It keeps the kids from picking at the turkey before it gets to the table. Unfortunately, it wasn't thawed so the wife stepped up and prepared a half dozen appetizers to keep everyone at bay.

I think our tradition is to forget something...

After reading this I thought I didn't forget anything, then when I went to look for leftovers to warm up tonight I came across a tupperware container of teriyaki soaked hotdogs I usually throw on the BBQ with  the main meat/shrimp I'm grilling. Fired up the grill and threw on some previously marinated kalbi ribs.

This was my 41st Thanksgiving. I didn't forget anything... thanks to my pain in the ass wife. ;)

I forgot my wife's family is crazy. They quickly made me pay for my brief lapse in judgement...:-)

Same here this year, I don't think we forgot anything since we had 5 women in the kichen.  I had the honors of carving the turkey and helped out with the clean-up, rest was taken care of by Beth and the rest of the family.  Another successful Thanksgiving weekend....... :)

I'm with Doc.  Proper prior planning prevents piss poor performance.   The 7 "P"s of life.

Nice saying...but means nothing once excessive amounts of scotch are involved.  ;)

Sure, blame it on the booze. More likely pre-senile dementia. :whistling:

For a second there, I was wondering what penile dementia was.
