I just smoked a Perdomo Ltd Reserve Champagne and it started out pretty good. A small hint of sweetness mixed in with mild to medium spiciness. It was a medium blend that tickled my mouth and nose. After about 1/3 of the way through...the wrapper started cracking. My humi is at 66*/66 RH for about a week (was 70RH). The swet taste then disappeared and the taste got bland. After about 2/3 I put it out due to lack of flavor and harshness. Do you think it was the construction or my miskeeping? Any info appreciated.

Humidity or smoking too fast. Usually.

What's the weather like were you are?

I think you just crossed over that "imaginary line" most of us cross over, when we realize Macanudo Golds and Perdomo's are shit, and the Padrons and Tatuajes begin calling your name!!

Seriously though, based on the facts you presented, I think it was the cigar's construction.

Wait for your pocket book to start taking hits. :whistling:

I have been told, and this does seem reasonable, that if the cigar is too wet, especially insie, and you smoke too fast the moisture inside expands (ie: boils, steams) and has to escape somewhere. That expanding water/steam usually finds the path the least resistance and forces its way out through the side of the cigar causing the cracking of the wraper.

Anyone else heard this before?

Sounds like a good explanation. I got these from a cigar of the month club. The habanos were good, but this was not. My wallet is already empty from VSG, Padron, Opus, WOAM, and actually my favorite RP Vintage 92. Why can't Philly Blunts be good!!! HA!

They can be!
