So, as most of you know, I've had a lot of turmoil at work lately. After finding out that my branch would be closing, I was saved by the skin of my teeth and transferred to a branch that is scheduled to close on 12/31/09. It's been up in the air what will happen to me when this branch closes. Because of that, when a new position came available I decided to throw my hat into the ring. I was told that there were a lot of applicants, so I didn't get my hopes up too high, but it felt good to take a little control over my future. After my first interview, I waited patiently, and two weeks later I got the call for a second interview. That interview took place last Wednesday. I was told I would hear this week as to what happened.
This morning when I was getting ready for work, I prepared myself for the worst. I figured that since I hadn't heard anything yet, I hadn't gotten the job. Fortunately I was not correct in my assumption! I received a call this morning asking me if I could meet with one of my interviewers this afternoon. Well, she came to my office around 4:30 and informed me that I had been chosen for the position. I will be my bank's first ever Business Banking Specialist. I'm very excited and nervous at the same time. I have a lot to learn, in a very short time. It will be a good change for me though. I start after January 1st when my branch closes.
To top things off, when I got home, I had a nice little surprise waiting for me. A while back I entered a contest and won, and my winnings had arrived! I am now the proud owner of an H. Upmann leather travel humidor fully loaded with cigars. I can't wait to give them a try!
Now, I just need this stupid cold to break and life will be perfect (well, pretty damn close)! I'd like to say thanks again to everyone who has followed up with me about my situation, and for all the kindness shown by the community here. I'm very humbled, and feel fortunate to be a part of it.
Cheers!
