No odor other then the typical slightly woody aroma. 99% sure they aren't sealed, slightly raised grain on some of them and the sanding marks are feel-able(?). Waiting for for a couple buddies/woodworkers to provide opinions - they are leaning toward white oak.
I'm a low-budget kinda cigar guy - rarely will Davidoffs find their way into it lol. I like a woody note, even a Kentucky Fire Cured once in a while (Gasp!). I also keep sticks of spanish cedar in them to take up space and keep the humidity more stable. I'll keep researching but from what I've read so far, it shouldn't do any damage, at least to a palette as dull as mine.
I built SC shelves for the other one, pretty straight forward. Of course they are a little bit too wide for this one , so I'll need to cut them down next time I have the saw out.
It'll take me a while just to get a respectable amount in one side of it so that's all I'm focusing on now.
