I don’t get any licorice from it, but there is a sweetness in there with the hay and other flavors. More of a honey taste/smell to my senses at least. Damn fine stuff.

So here is my pipe lol. It’s a MacQueen pipe, quite possibly unsmoked though there is a little burnishing around the top edge of the bowl. This may mean that I actually tried one time but stopped for one reason or another.
I also have these two tins of tobacco. I believe both to be unused as well but I think I may have opened the de luxe mixture for one reason or another. The other one I cannot open for some reason so that leads me to think it never was.
Question now is where to maybe find a good Cobb that could be shipped to me, and if this tobacco is any good. I’m unsure of the exact consistency of how it should be. The deluxe isn’t “brittle” but it’s not exactly soft either. It’s anything but “wet”.
Update, the early morning pipe was unopened, until just a few minutes ago. It has the same consistency as the de lux, so that may be good or bad. They both have been residing in a older clear plexi fake zino humidor in a cool basement setting for the last 3 years, and maybe a couple more at the old place before that. Its fairly airtight as I can smell the delicious pipe aroma every time I open it.
That is a cool looking pipe! If you cant get the tin open just jam a quarter under the edge of the top and give it a little pry/twist. It should break the vacuum seal.

Ya I was finally able to get it open. Consistency is about the same as the other tin, so either both are ok, or both are bad. I got a couple more tins/pipes on the way now.
It is cool, but the wife who likes to sit outside with me when I enjoy said things feels weird about me smoking it. Maybe I've watched lord of the rings too many times, lol!

For sure. I guess I should just be glad that she somewhat tolerates it.
My best buddy and his wife (who is my wife’s best friend) came over about a month ago for a cigar and scotch night while the girls did whatever the hell they do. We had it planned for weeks. Even within a few hours before his arrival he was talking about how excited he was because he so rarely get to enjoy cigars. Funny thing was, once he arrived, he declined a cigar stating he had been feel sick all day so he was just going to hang outside with me while I enjoyed one. Later Jess told me his wife flat out told him he wasn’t allowed to have one and he had decided it wasn’t worth the fight. So at least I don’t have to deal with that.

The Battle of Jangsari (2019) a War film based on a real story:
During the Korean War, a group of 772 student soldiers led by a guerrilla task force commander is tasked with staging a diversionary mission at Jangsari Beach in South Korea, in order to deceive the North Korean forces into thinking the opposition forces would launch a decisive invasion there. In doing so, they would be able to pave the way for the Incheon Landing Operation. Meanwhile, an American reporter and war correspondent covers the Korean War and tries to get help from the international community as the soldiers struggle to accomplish their mission due to a lack of proper training, weapons, and adequate food and supplies.
The mission was to attack Jangsari Beach, and cut off the North Korean Army’s supply chain but it's a suicide mission because the beach was full or wires-mines and bunkers with machine guns.Those teenagers with less than two weeks military training (NO Marine style exercises), tossed into combat without suitable equipment, sufficient provisions or ammunition not even a serial number to identify them!
Decades later one of the survived students stands in the same beach and shouting the names of his dead friends.
