Sounds like a good time to get in the hot tub!!!!
have a cigar and conference call to finish then I’m going to go out and play in the Jeep
The worst is those new Pickups... They look like Jeeps until you are right up on them..Yes! I've seen more and more Jeeps on the roads, this past week. Still a bunch of non-wavers though.
What gauge train do you have?
Sorry to hear that. Hang in there, I'm hoping they get you back on the grid sooner than later.Gonna get down to 8* tonight.
Power has been off since 2am.
We are sleeping in front of the fireplace tonight.
Texas Camping.
Home Edition
That is crazy!!29 hours later. Still no power.
Half my faucets are frozen.
Texas running out of power is like starving to death in a grocery store.
Funny you say that! I went out to play around in the Jeep yesterday ( I mean I was being a helpful husband and volunteering to go to the store ) and Jeeps easily out numbered most cars that braved to be out yesterday! But still, these idiot Kansas drivers are not used to this, so I hope all those here that have the massive/pimped out Rubicons at least know what to do with them!Yes! The guys who think that 4X4 means they can stop and go like a snowmobile are dangerous! It's much safer here in Ohio where 95% of the drivers are used to treacherous roads. I would take Fi-Fi out down there but nothing else!Nope, it's those lifted jeeps with the 35s, that are driven by people who never owned a Jeep before. I've driven stock Jeeps, that can out wheel those Rubicon drivers, just by using common sense. We've been out all last week on the ice and this week, on the snow. The true vehicles that scare me, are the truck owners who think because they have 4x4, that they can drive normal speeds on these roads. So many unnecessary accidents and stalled cars out there, it's crazy. We counted 14 abandoned cars, just yesterday while out in this stuff, because people either couldn't get up a hill or they high centered and didn't know how to get out.
It's 47* in the house, 62 in front of the fireplace.
Have to flush with a bucket of water since the toilets can't refill.
Come on summer time, I miss you baby.
Also, I'll be getting a whole house standby generator after all this bullshit. They can shove solar and wind up their ass, nat gas is all I need.
I think people being used to it can be a double edges sword too though. There were 3 cars on the ditch on the short drive from the ski hill to the highway the other day on roads that weren't that bad (relatively speaking). Totally agree familiarity makes most people better drivers on bad roads, but also makes some people overly confident. The guys who think that 4X4 means they can stop and go like a snowmobile are dangerous! Since you are where this normally doesn't happen, there is another option. I have a portable generator that puts out between 10k and 13k watts. I had an electrician come and wire a separate junction box, to the outside of the house, that I could plug into if the power went out. It has a three step process to hook into, so as not to back-feed the fellas trying to fix the issue. Then we ran the heater, hot water heater, fridge/freezer, a few lights, and sump pump into it. This way, we could keep the house warm, pipes unfrozen, and food safely stored. If we run the hot water heater, we'd have to turn off the heater, as it would draw to much.
I've used it twice, and it works like a charm. The portable stores away in the shed or garage, and is portable to use other laces as well.
Either way, I agree with your desires. It happened to me once, and Michelle and I said never again. Good luck, brother! Stay safe.
