VENTING!

UPdate.

I ended up going to a local store who was more than willing to accomodate me.

I got a new i860...sweet ass phone..
no contract..for their advertised "special price"
free charger for car.
free hands free kit
a 35.oo credit on my phone bill.

cool Alex, too bad you have to stay with Nexthell though. As bad as the others (Verizon,Sprint,Cingular) they are better then what I have heard about NextHell. Take care...

hmm....a stupid question....what is nextell and the other things like verizon and sprint? I'm from Finland and I have to say I don't really understand what fees you are talking about, i guess we don't have them here. I haven't had problems with customer services...but i do know there are alot of those who have had.

they are some of the cellular phone service providers here in the U.S. Unlike you folks over in Europe, we are way behind when it comes to cell phones and cell phone technology.
BTW..welcome to the board!

Glad to hear it Alex. I've found, as with most companies, you just have to get to the right person. That i860 is quite the phone. I signed up for the TelNav service where I can have the phone navigate me turn by turn to a destination using the GPS capability of the phone. Its pretty cool..... now, not only does my wife tell me where to go but so does my phone. LOL!

I don't want to get into any big debate about cell phones with everyone here but I can tell you that the 10+ years that I've been using Nextel my experience has been more than satisfactory. I'm not saying I haven't had my troubles at one time or another... stuff happens... but as a whole any problems I have had was made right. (sometimes I'd have to insist on a solution) I'm sure different parts of the country has different coverage abilities so its almost impossible to compare apples to apples with everyone speaking about "their" experience. What works for me here in Texas obvious won't be the same for someone in Arizona for example.

JD Powers rate Verizon and Nextel almost neck and neck as the top two in a survey of over 16 thousand cell phone users. It also stated that people living in the Northeast reported the worst network quality.

YMMV

PS - for those that didn't read Alex's post completely, he stated he couldn't switch providers. (i'm guessing work related or too many two way contacts)

Ohh....didn't know that USA is after in cellphone technology and thanks for the welcome

oh man now I made a fool out of myself....can't make a quote right huoh

The wife and I have been on Nextel for our personal phones for about 4-5 years. Ive had another for work for 2 1/2. Ive been pretty happy with them. No problems that you would say are unacceptable for a mobile phone.

The two way talk feature is the selling point for me. I could never go back to dialing digits and waiting for the wife to pick up just to see if we need milk while Im at the store.

They are expanding/enhancing their coverage in my area.
