Vegas advice?

So I am taking the plunge and getting married this feb in Las Vegas.

Can someone give me some feedback on where a nice middle of the road type place to stay at on the strip.

Not sure I want to fork over the $$ to stay at a place like Belagio, or Wynn.

How about it folks besides the real swanky places, where is a good place to stay?
 
We stayed at the Palazzo and had a dang nice suite for $185/night. I don't know what you're looking to spend, but I didn't think that was bad at all.

edit to add: I don't know that I would be as concerned about the hotel as the $15 hamburgers. ;) Vegas is the most expensive place I've ever been.

LOL The Imperial Palace is one I wont stay.

The soon to be Mrs. does't care where we stay. It's going to be a quick ceremony type deal with just our parents being there. We haven't been to vegas before so I don't imagine we'll spend much time in the room anyhow.

Rio. It's off the strip, but still nice and in Feb it should still be pretty cheap.
 
I'm staying at Bill's Gambling Hall and Saloon in September. It's beside the Flamingo. Me and some buddies stayed there last year, nice big room, nice hotel, in one of the more fun casinos to gamble in on the main strip (IMO) and between $60-80 a night depending on how/when you book. We'd stayed at other places as well in that price range in Vegas, nothing beats Bill's. I loved it mainly for the location, in the middle. I don't know if you've ever been to Vegas before but having to walk from one far end of the strip to another (or even from the middle to one end) is a bitch in the middle of the day or late at night when you're polluted.

I was staying at Paris last month. Excellent rooms. Their bathrooms were luxurious. If booked in a couple of months in advance, I'm sure you'll get a good deal.
 
I've been to Las Vegas about 50 times in the past 8 years. If you tell me more what you are looking for I would be happy to give you some advice.
 
I've never stayed at the MGM, but the location is perfect. I've seen good rates and from what I hear, it's a pretty nice place, just not the latest & greatest.
 
I'm a big fan of THE Hotel at Mandalay Bay. Great rooms and the pools are also very nice. It's all suites and rooms tend to run around $200 or so, less if you book well ahead and pick a good time to go. Gonna be heading there in mid-August myself. I particularly like the topless beach they have ... not sure your if your wife-to-be would be down with that, but luckily my wife insisted. :thumbs:
 
Do some homework. Most, if not all, of the casinos are hurting here in a big way. Some are offering "all inclusive"drinks and trips to the buffet for an extra daily fee. You should be able to get a good deal if you book it early enough.

A lot of great deals out there right now. My wife and I got married at the Wynn in September of '07. We had originally thought it was way out of our price range, but after shopping around and comparing, it was actually a very good deal-- ceremony and the room-- and very no-fuss/no-muss. The coordinator Sunny Shearin and Reverend Richard were both awesome.

My advice to you would be to set a budget and then do some homework. If something seems a bit high, try calling and seeing if you can get a better deal. And don't forget that in the middle of the week it may be cheaper than on a weekend.

A lot of Hawaii people like Downtown Las Vegas (Fremont Ave Experience) to stay and play.Linky It's a lot more casual some people say.

I'd rather stay on the Strip if I'm with my family as my daughter's asthma doesn't act up in those bigger casino's.

I would say that it is a nice middle of the road hotel on the strip. Not too expensive. Some are nicer but usually cost more too. Have fun!
 
Cesars palace is nice and very reasonable, also TI was a hoot to stay in...nice rooms, but cesars was a bigger room for us...almost a suite. Shop around...good deals abound in vegas. and bring your own smokes...buy a few at casa fuente, as the cigar pricing is crazy out there. congrats and good luck
