Unknown dusty box of cigars found in attic

Quite interesting. Could potentially be worth some money if you could find the right person

Very cool. That would be a fantastic addition to anyone's smoking room. Having that family connection is priceless!

I was able to find a reference to Mirosa Cigars:

The scan there makes mention of them. I cut and rotated the part for you:

It's listed under British. Hopefully this can give you a lead.

Fantastic tomthirtysix,

This is all beginning to make sense now.

My Grandfathers/family business was called 'Teblon Equipments' and he bought a large office at Park Place, Leeds. (Park Lane is just off Park Place, in Leeds)

Wow, I bet they came from there as a warming gift or 'sweetner' to buy the property.

Unbelievable find tomthirtysix, many, many thanks my friend.

Andrew

Very nice piece of history.
I just wonder what kind of sticks he used to smoke.
Those tubes look really strange.
Too bed you don't have a cigar from that box, that would be some aged cigar. ;)

Hi jepe,

I have 13 complete cigars in tubes in the box but i reckon the damp of the loft will have ruined them.

Andrew

That has to be among the more unique boxes I've ever seen. The cigars contained are unlikely to be smokable still, so the value would be negligible. Had they been stored in controlled temp/humidity, that would be different.

Hi NullSmurf,

Unfortunately the box has been in the family attic for at least 30 years and possibly in a previous family house (before i was born) for many more years (50's/60's is my educated guess)

cheers.

Andrew

Are you kidding me...look at the plume on the box!! :D

That's a pretty cool find for sure. Those tubes are plastic or glass?

Hi merkinmullet,

The tubes are plastic not glass and there are 13 cigars in total and 21 empty tubes.

thank you

Andrew

As long as the tube seals are good, the cigars should be smokeable unless the cigars were subjected to continual high heat.

I am not so sure that statement is true for cigars sitting in an attic for 50 plus years without being in any kind controlled environment. no matter how tight the seal is. my .02

The tube seals are pretty loose after so many years and there is white spots on some cigars which would suggest a little damp has got to them but i am not interested in monetary value (although that would be nice to know and to maybe safely enjoy one) The history of the box is my goal. I have no memory of my Grandfather as he died just before i was born so all this information you have all kindly given to me is priceless, truly priceless.

Many, many thanks all.

Andrew

Thanks dubya, the family connection is what it is all about.

Glad I could help, Andrew. Like many others have said, very cool piece of family history you stumbled upon.

That is a very cool piece of history you have there. I would keep them forever just as something cool you can always have. Things like this are always a good conversation starter!

Thank you Pennjones. I will keep them forever and a day. The cigars are unfit to smoke but i might try one. since I posted this, I have found a few more, including a very nice, sealed '5 wrap of 5 but i still think they are un-smokable, no damp, no nothing, just bloody old.

cheers pennjones, many thanks.

Andrew.

many thanks all, your knowledge and help has really made this 'Leeds Lad' smile,

Thank you CP, what a wonderful community you all, truly are. fantastic.

Andrew,

Leeds, UK

Before you smoke them, it might be wise to store them in a box with humidity beads or some sort. It will definitely not be a good smoke right now, but who knows in a month or so.

In any case, that is an AWESOME find. Great addition to any enthusiast's collection.
