Two warnings about Atlantic

I just got a stale box of Oliva O Robustos from Atlantic Cigars. They had never sent me stale cigars before but the price should have been the give-away. So IF you were thinking of getting those normally delicious cigars from that source, be warned.

The other item is to be advised that Atlantic does NOT pay for return shipping. I was surprised to find that not only did I get a stale box of cigars, I now have to pay o ship said cigars back.

I never had this happen before so I don't mean to dis Atlantic. It's their business and they can run it how they like. But forewarned is forearmed. ;)

What do you mean by stale? Dried out? How where they packed for shipment?

This is precisely why I prefer to deal with the smaller, more professional, more personal tobacconist. I pay a little bit more, but not always. I've gotten some scorching deals from our vendors here.

True! Up until this, Atlantic had been the best of both worlds. This is the first problem I've had and they always had great service in terms of helping me get what I want at good prices. I was surprised at their return policy, though.

I didn't intend for this to be anything other than stated - a heads-up.

1. Don't buy the bad cigars

2. Be warned of the unusual return policy.

I got a box from them once where it was still shrink wrapped... but both of the label seals were cut like the box had been opened before... which I thought was weird. Haven't smoked one from the box (nor have I ever had one of the cigars so I wouldn't know if anything was up with them anyways). But just thought it was weird...

I would like to have this question answered....describe 'stale' in your opinion.

I'm curious about your answer.

Thanks.
I just saw the other Atlantic complaint and, after reviewing this topic, saw your question. Stale means the flavor has been lost due to evaporation of the volatile oils that give a cigar it's flavor. Usually, extended storage below the proper RH is the cause. Extreme heat can do it, too.

It's their return policy that initially pissed me off. That's where the level of commitment to customer satisfaction meets the road. ;)
