Well your buddy must be going to Sosua then, because that's about the only place in the world you can buy those Montellano cigars. I know the guy who owns the company, I just bought another box of them two weeks ago when
I was in Sosua.
The owner is a good friend of my good friend Santo. No, they are not Cuban cigars, they are made in Santiago, DR but have the name of the little town where the owner and Santo both live, the town of Monte Llano which is about half way between Sosua and Puerto Plata.
I just gave a good friend of mine a box of 25 of those cigars today because he really likes them, I gave him a box of them about 6 months ago and he wanted more.
They really aren't too expensive either.
