Trying to I.D. a gift cigar

Man oh man talk about a turn of events. I thought this thread was going in the right direction someone just wanted to learn about cigars and was asking an honest question of an unknown cigar. Now I have little doubt that this was all an marketing ploy. sigh

David

A marketing ploy that took over a year to hatch, priceless.

/snip worthless babble

let me ask you a question, how much would you be willing to pay for one of these Montellano torpedos? or 25 of them? i can probably get as many of them as you want :)

/snip worthless babble

So..... How much does Montellano pay you to troll around the internet trying to shill their cigars?

LMAO!
HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa!

Maybe if the original post wasnt over a year old I'd agree :whistling:

Could it be that the OP was asking a real question, and then this fellow (employee of montellano?) happened across the thread, seeing as it is the only result in google? I doubt it's related to the original year old post...

That being said, no doubt this guy is here trying to sell his product, or make a quick buck by reselling....bad move.

I've since moved since I originally asked that question. I hadnt even thought about the cigar till this reappeared in my inbox. Suppose I should go look for it and maybe enjoy it this weekend.....

and, no, I dont wanna buy any.

let me ask you a question, how much would you be willing to pay for one of these Montellano torpedos? or 25 of them?

I'll trade you 25 Isabellas for them. The Isabellas are legendary around these parts! :sign:

Ironically I just tried one(A freebie after an inquiry to the manufacturer about isabela cigars), and they are living up the the legend :sign: (not to thread-jack, but yea...they're a bundle cigar, at best, marketed as something worth $10 bucks a pop). Now the only problem is deciding what to do with the remaining freebies.

Seems like there's been a lot of that going around lately, I imagine these are just more of the same marketing BS...

hey genius, i was trying to get an idea of how much scrufdoq thinks these Montellano cigars are worth....you sound quite sensitive about it, maybe you sell cigars yourself and your sales are way off? i'm thinking about importing these cigars to sell yes, so what is it your business unless you are my potential competition? i'm not selling these cigars you butthead, i'd just like another opinion on how much they are worth

Relax Pop, he's just protecting the forum. The way the post sounds it does indeed look like you are trying sell them. IMHO. If not then that's fine, but there is no need to call names, and act like that. That's not the way things are done here. You might want to rethink your previous statement, or you'll find your time here very short.

I predict great things from this retort.

Now that wasn't too hard..

Well your buddy must be going to Sosua then, because that's about the only place in the world you can buy those Montellano cigars. I know the guy who owns the company, I just bought another box of them two weeks ago when I was in Sosua. The owner is a good friend of my good friend Santo. No, they are not Cuban cigars, they are made in Santiago, DR but have the name of the little town where the owner and Santo both live, the town of Monte Llano which is about half way between Sosua and Puerto Plata. I just gave a good friend of mine a box of 25 of those cigars today because he really likes them, I gave him a box of them about 6 months ago and he wanted more. They really aren't too expensive either. My buddy who is a cigar aficionado(misspell) really likes these Montellanos...I have 5 of them for myself. Let me ask you a question, how much would you be willing to pay for one of these Montellano torpedos? Or 25 of them? I can probably get as many of them as you want :)

you guys have become real paranoid and negative-sooner or later theres gonna be a great cigar come across and you blackballers are finally gonna feel bad-alot of these cigar roller/blenders spend most of their lives to produce these cigars, and most do it as a labor of love, due to the tremendous time, costs, and taxes involved. You should take this into consideration next time you shell a cuban master , and maybe you will learn to appreciate the respect for you and this site that a guy sends you free cigars to enjoy !! Thabks Matt Stroble !!

Sorry man, I know my post may have been a little distasteful, and maybe even a little unprofessional, and I apologize for that, but I gotta tell it like it is. I tried one and I didn't like it. I have read reviews about them that fell along the same lines as my experience. I wanted to give them a shot and give your product an unbiased review so that I might be able to give you some positive feedback. I tried a couple more and even gave a few to friends to get their opinions. I do understand there is a great amount of time that goes into these cigars, but I just can't justify the price point, especially when I have other vendors giving me much higher quality products in the same ballpark. This site is not oriented around marketing BS, so I'm not going to blow smoke up peoples' arse. I'm sorry if I have offended you, but I'm just letting these guys know how it is. But I guess now, at least, we have a definitive answer as to your real identity. If you would have come forward with that in the first place, you could have avoided a lot of the flak you got in other threads.
[/ThreadJack]

Sorry about the thread-jack guys!

Why is it always that those who have under 20 or so post always seem to defend those who have about 5 or less post after an blow up like this? I have an eye for patterns and this seems to be one that always occurs. Thus tells me, with great odds that either those people are working together or through some other means. Just some food for thought, because Let me know you these "Butthead's" (I havent used that term since I was in third grade  ) are pretty smart, but collectively we are pretty damn intelligent you may get one to fall in to this ploy, but not all.

Shell a cuban master? Please

David

i'm thinking about importing these cigars to sell

First, your reply sounds like that of a little child, full of crying and name calling, so don't expect anyone to take you seriously or give a shit from this point on.

Second, why didn't you just come out and say you were thinking of importing them in your first post? Be honest and upfront, that's about all that people ask for around here. Go back and read your first post. Tell me how we're supposed to interpret "how much would you pay" and "I can get you a box anytime" from someone nobody knows as anything other than you trying to make a quick buck off of the community?

No one here is going to lose any sleep over you or these cigars. If they are good smokes, another respectable vendor that knows how to treat his customers will pick them up and it'll be all good.

I'm not even going to begin to try and interpret the babble you've written above. Just know that we don't stand for your kind around here.

After reading into your post I wanted to try and decipher what you've put down.

First off, I'm flatterd, but no I'm not a genius. Thanks for the compliment though...

Second, don't kid yourself or us. You were trying to find out how much he would pay for them so you could get him a box. You sir, are a liar.

Third, no I don't sell cigars. I BUY cigars from reputable vendors and BOTLs that are upfront about what they are selling. Not two-bit wannabes that troll the internet looking for a mention of "a great cigar that only they have access to". You sir are a liar.

It's my business cause I say it is. You're on OUR board and you ask me what business is it of MINE. Get a clue kid...

Again, thanks for the compliment. Butthead is a term I haven't heard in awhile and it flatters me that you would bring it out of your arsenal to use on me.
