A Oliva V Melanio figurado for today.
Had been saving it for a while now. But having recently smoked a VegaFina Nicaragua Jalapa. A Nicaraguan puro, that featured tobaccos exclusively from the Jalapa region.
I thought it was finally time to test this "carefully aged, Jalapa blend" of Oliva.
Some notes.
- VegaFina had a very tasty mellow mouth feel
- Oliva did good in making sure the cigar was not in your face aswell
- VegaFina had a shorter mouth taste, a clear hit on the puff but no follow-up
-Oliva felt like a diesel engine which really came to its full potential 30 seconds after the puff had been made.
Both share similar taste notes, though their profile differ vastly.
Overall I'm already looking forward to trying different shapes of the (Oliva V) blend. I do have this robusto in my humidor for about 1 year now aswell. So who knows might be a bit sooner then expected.
A clear recommendation for those wondering if it is something checking out. But it should not be your first cigar just because of a 96 rating in 2014 by CA.
Have a good weekend y'all!
