To the little punk that broke into my car

Sorry to hear that.

One thing I always wondered about stealing GPS. Why would you steal a tracking device? Shouldn't they be able to tell you exactly where it is?

I was thinking that as well, isn't that like stealing a car win OnStar in it? the police can tell exacty where your going.

Onstar, Lojack and those services use GPS data to transmit the location back to a service provider, basic Garmin/Magellan or other GPS Service is simply a GPS that can provide the user his position, btu that data is not sent to any other location (and can't without an RF transmitter of some sort). Most vehicle GPS systems (outside the two mentioned above) are simple navigation tools and nothing more. Very sellable on the black market.

Sorry to hear about that. I don't understand petty crime at all. If you are going to break the law, at least have a clue about what you are doing.

Someone broke into my car about a month ago.

They took off my alpine faceplate, then tried to pry the deck out of the dash with a screwdriver. FRIGGIN IDIOTS.

When they gave up on the stereo, the gave the dash 3-4 good jabs with the screwdriver. Out of frustration, I would guess. Alpine, like many other car stereos, can only be removed with a special tool, or someone who knows how that special tool works.

Then they popped one of my tires for good measure.

Wish I could have caught them in the act...

Bum Deal man, I know back in Detroit I used to rig a 6 in Exacto refil on a 30 degree incline under the radio system (most common boost method was to simply pull the ashtray, reach underneath and yank). Nothin better than to come back to the car and find a little blood pool in the ashtray bin where some punk got a fistfull of razor blade trying to boost the stereo. Not sure I'd protect all the modern gadgets, but I do know that on rentals I never leave anything in the car and don't lock the door just so they don't bust sh!t up looking for what's not there.

Any new discs you can purchase just to have something to listen to on the way home? How many days you got left before you return - I (or somebody else) could burn you a couple compilations and express them out to the local PO for pick-up. Who knows, you might find some new bands you like this way.

Thanks for the offer for a new disk bro. I just got home from San Fran a few hours ago (cross country trips are a killer) or I would have taken you up on some new disks.

This issue here is that the only way to stop the little thieves is to catch them, the local po-po really aren't going to waste too much time looking for them and the chances of getting caught in the act are slim.

edited to add: And thats why I took my sticks inside with me including 2 aged 8 yr old Monty's and a 5 year old Bolivar.

What the hell is wrong with kids today.

Parents!

Odds are these are children of parents who expect society to raise their children. These parent are unable to discipline their children because they are afraid the children will "not love them". They believe the child must be allowed to express themselves and grow up unencumbered.

Catch these punks, make them take you to their house and beat hell out out of their parents!

Understand completely....

Last night, somebody got in my van and busted out the stereo. Found it this morning when we were leaving for church. Happy Easter!! It's make you feel all warm a fuzzy inside. Count it all up; broken glass, torn up dash, nice Alpine unit, $1400 bucks.

It sucks!!

Punks!!
