Oh yeah... Congrats!! 'Bout time, huh? they been stringing you along for HOW long? :laugh:

As of getting the call yesterday, it had been 128 days since the job announcement closed for applications on 10/17/07...and 102 days since I interviewed on 11/12/07. :angry: I expected some delay due to the intervening holidays but apparently, my package had later been misplaced, reissued, then routed to the regional headquarters in Seattle for their blessings. All in all, a normal government operation.

You'll be taking over in DC soon and then we can herf!

As much as I enjoy visiting DC (sorry to have missed you in September) I wouldn't live there on a bet! Alaska has truly spoiled me for anyplace else. Besides, DC bureaucrats eat their young. Now, if we could work out a telecommuting deal...

I started off with an Opie. After a break walking around the Fur Rendezvous, I came back for an Extra Viejo Churchill. Yep, it's a good day.

You just might be surprised. ANC is one of the busiest cargo airports in the world...#6, IIRC. ANC also controls traffic from at least a couple of other fields. On the airport grounds is Lake Hood, the largest float plane base in the world. Then there's Merrill Field, downtown.

Besides, the ferries dock in places like Whittier, Seward, and Valdez. Everybody knows that.
